Improving the quality of geography education in rural middle schools depends on which teaching resources and materials is the starting point for choosing the topic of this study.The continuous emergence of modern technological means has a tremendous impact on the independent development of geographic teaching resources and their applications to geography teaching and learning.In rural middle schools,there are relatively shortages of various modern geography teaching aid(GTA)resources in rural middle schools,and the geography teaching focuses on the reading and memorizing texts,neglecting the independent development and application of GTA resources.The experimental edition and the 2017 edition of the Geography Curriculum Standards issued by the Ministry of Education emphasize the independent development of GTAs and learning aid resources.Therefore,independent development and utilization of GTA resources is very important for the promotion of geography curriculum reform in rural middle schools.First,to develop GTA resources in rural middle schools,we need a solid theoretical foundation and feasible operational research methods.An integration of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign educational thoughts and theories of dewey,dell,and Comenius and serves as the theoretical basis of this study.The research methodology is a combination of literature and action approaches.Second,the development of GTA resources should focus on innovation.Based on these ideas mentioned above and combining my own practical teaching experience in a middle school,we proposed a strategy for the development of GTA resources in rural middle schools,and eight GTA resources such as Solar Altimeter were developed.It is fundamental to offer students a good geography education by utilizing GTA resources to better geography teaching.To demonstrate how to utilize GTA resources to improve geography teaching and learning,four cases study were designed.In the first case,students were guided to develop Global Time-zone Turntable,and in the second case students were guided to use the Sundial and Solar Altimeter as the main tools to measure local latitude and longitude,thereby promoting regional awareness and geographic practice.In the third case,theimprovement of the geography classroom teaching was made based on the Sponge Model for Air Pressure Belt & Wind Belt,with emphasis on reconstructing the teaching process.The fourth case demonstrates how to apply GTA resources to do geography exercises in tutorial classes using the Sundial and the Celestial Globe as examples,thereby increasing teaching efficiency.Enhancing geographical core qualities is a gradual process that cannot be achieved overnight.The use of GTAs in geography teaching is an effective means to cultivate geographical core qualities.If it can be used in conjunction with other modern geography curriculum resources,it is believed that it can stimulate students' interest in learning,encourage interaction between teachers and students,and deepen understanding of geography knowledge,and enhances the vitality of the classroom.We deeply hope that this study will help this.
