Du Yaquan is a famous enlightenment thinker and educator in modern times.In his ideological system,he educates the people and makes them citizens with independent new moral concepts and modern scientific concepts,thus promoting the reform of the society and the progress of the country from the point of view of reforming the people and promoting the progress of the country.It is the aim and starting point of education.This article mainly discusses Du Yaquan's thought of national education from three aspects.On the one hand,Du Yaquan mainly discusses Du Yaquan's analysis and understanding of the people.He believes that the Chinese people have the defects of reality,dependence and ignorance,resulting in the inability to form a common value concept,and on the basis of a profound analysis of the defects of the national character.The aim of this paper is to cultivate an independent citizen,that is,a new citizen who can support his life,have the spirit of independence and complete personality.The second part discusses the content of national education.Du Yaquan holds that scientific education is the primary task of national education,and moral education is the core content.We should use science and culture to make up for the shortage of national knowledge,to cure the disease of childish ignorance,and to educate the spirit of scientific reason.In order to shape the national spirit with moral reconstruction,he proposed that the people should reform the inappropriate ethical concept of their own affairs,reform the family,and form a civilized style of respecting thrift and equality for the society.On the reconstruction of morality,Du Yaquan proposed that science and morality should be reconciled,traditional morality and modern morality should be reconciled,and the deficiency of conservative and radical revolution should be avoided.The third aspect mainly discusses Du Yaquan's understanding of the ways and means of popularizing national education.Du Yaquan advocates that we should pay more attention to social self-seeking and oppose government intervention and official reading.He himself has also kowtowed in popularizing national education.Through teaching,founding or editing publications,compiling and translating textbooks,the dissemination of culture,enlighten the people,until later in the poor and sick did not change the original intention of teaching and educating people.Du Yaquan's thought of national education is a new interpretation of "education to save the nation" in the late Qing Dynasty.Its rationality lies in the transformation of old ideas,the cultivation of consciousness,the promotion of national quality,and the cultivation of a nation in conformity with the modern spirit.That is,to realize the modernization of human beings,thus to promote social reform and save the national crisis,these thoughts are of great significance to promote the people's awakening and social progress,which is also the value of the study of Du Yaquan's national education thought in this paper.
