Science curriculum reform has always been an important subject of great concern in the field of basic education.In recent years,although policy initiatives related to scientific curriculum reform have been introduced,the lack of specific theoretical guidelines and practical references have made the effect of scientific curriculum reforms unsatisfactory.Canada's science education is at the top of the list,and the overall scientific performance of Ontario's students,which as a national economic and political center,is above the Canadian average.This is largely due to Ontario's mature science curriculum system-the STSE curriculum model.Therefore,this paper furtherly understands and explores of Ontario's STSE curriculum model,recognizes the contents of every constituent elements of the model,so as to summarize the features and advantages of the curriculum model,and provides ideas and methods that can be used for the science curriculum reform currently being promoted in China,and promotes the smooth implementation of the reform.Using the literature method.case analysis method and comparative analysis method,this paper systematically studies the STSE curriculum model in Ontario,Canada.First of all,it gives a brief introduction to the background of the STSE curriculum model.The rise of the trend of thought in scientific education reform and the support of domestic political and academical environment are the two major driving forces for the curriculum model,and it clarifies the "scientific literacy" which is cultivated in the science curriculum.Then this paper elaborates on the various components of the STSE curriculum model.In terms of curriculum concepts,the STSE curriculum model focuses on the connection between science,technology,society and the environment,emphasizes the cultivation of scientific literacy,humanistic literacy and environmental literacy,and at the same time advocates interdisciplinary knowledge integration.These three major curriculum concepts govern the development and practice of the STSE curriculum.In terms of curriculum objectives,a two-tiered target system with three-dimensional total goals as its core has been formed,focusing on levels and phases.In the curriculum content,multi-discipline content is selected in the form of "subject",and it forms a basic organizational model in which scientific concepts,technical applications,and social problem situations are integrated,emphasizing integrity,subjectivity,and inquiry.In the curriculum implementation,it not only adheres to the positions of classroom teaching,but also actively developes extra-curricular activities,used a variety of teaching methods such as group cooperative teaching,inquiry teaching,project-based teaching,and experiential teaching,and formulated clear and scientific teaching steps.At the same time,the integration of educational resources and the participation of multiagent get great attention.In curriculum evaluation,it highlights the diversity of evaluation objects,evaluation methods,and evaluation tools.And then,by summarizing the contents of the above constituent elements,it is concluded that the STSE curriculum model is based on science,technology,society and the environment,allowing students to understand the science and technology in specific social contexts to promote students' mastery of scientific knowledge and development of inquiry ability and problem solving ability,and always paying attention to the student's understanding of the connection between the four elements,enables students to establish a correct sense of scientific values and environmental protection.Finally,the curriculum model has outstanding value orientation,inquiry,openness,and holistic.It also proposes the reform of China's science curriculum in light of the country's national conditions:emphasis on cultivating awareness of environmental protection and defining value orientation;integrating 3-dimensional curriculum objectives and optimizing the target framework;penetrating STSE content,change teaching methods;construct ecological education system and strengthen overall design.
