Cooperative education,as a talent cultivation model,originated in the United States,flourished in North America and spread widely around the world.Based on the experience of cooperative education in the United States,Canada formed a sophisticated and distinctive cooperative education system gradually and become one of the mainstream around the world,in combination with the actual situation of their own.Based on the study of cooperative education and its theory in Canada,it helps to deepen the understanding of Canadian cooperative education in colleges,enriching the cooperative education theory in our country,and has practical guiding significance to the development of cooperative education in our country.This dissertation,beginning with the background of Canadian cooperative education in colleges,conducts its development combining the external environment and internal environment of Canadian higher education to further analyze cooperative education theory and practice in Canadian colleges and universities.This paper takes Waterloo as a case study to analyze the operation of its mode,and tries to grasp the key of the education mode operation in Canadian colleges from a deeper and more specific Angle.At present,Canadian cooperative education has entered the mature stage of development,presenting the character that study and work integrated further,internationalization trend strengthen,Innovative information management and the structure of the cooperative education optimizing.In the process of formation and development,cooperative education has formed distinctive theory in Canadian colleges and universities.Due to the construction of its theory is centered on the student cultivation,cooperative education is regarded as a kind of"education strategy" in Canada,.In addition to its unique theory,cooperative education has formed a relatively perfect training target system in Canada.Compared with the traditional education mode,cooperative education has the characteristics of openness,professionalism and modernity in Canadian universities.Meanwhile,it has the characteristics with Canadian localization.Canadian cooperative education develops relatively stable,achieving great success in the practice and enjoying a good international reputation.It profits from the basic model of unity and diversity.There are four basic elements in the cooperative education system:government,school,student and employer.Each element’ s behavior is related to the whole system function practice.Canadian cooperative education in colleges can be divided into different basic types according to the work time,organization form and management mode.Cooperative education plays a very important role as a new and modern education mode in the future development of education in China.Based on the experience of the Canadian colleges and universities cooperative education should give full ’play to the effect of educating students to demonstrate the function of cooperative education more effectively.
