The college period is an important stage for a person to grow up.The interpersonal skills have a profound influence on the campus and social life of college students. Many college students are affected by multiple factors such as school, family, society, peer group, etc.,resulting in being shy, nervous or even fearful when they interact with others. In addition, many college students pay more attention to knowledge education and neglect their interpersonal problems, which further exacerbates their inability with poor interpersonal skills. Therefore,it is very important to help college students receive guidance in interpersonal communication, break through the interpersonal difficulties encountered in real life, and learn more skills in communication. From the perspective of social work, this paper uses group work methods to take H University freshman and sophomores as the research object.Through questionnaire survey and analysis,it evaluates the current status and needs of modern college students in interpersonal communication, based on the theory of social learning theory and human interaction analysis. We formulate group plans and use group work methods and techniques to conduct group activities. The group activity consists of three stages, which are the initial, middle and later stages of the group. In the initial stage of the group, the team members identified their personal problems and needs;in the middle stage, the team members realized the importance of managing emotions and actively recognized and accepted themselves;in the later stage, the team members learned the skills of interpersonal skills and applied them in real life.During the group's development, the staff always guided by the concept of "helping others to help themselves".At the same time, group work skills, such as encouragement, acceptance, and empathy, were used to help the team members restore self-confidence.The team members always adhered to the"mutual assistance" principle to encourage each other and make progress together. The evaluation method of this paper mainly uses process assessment and result assessment. The process assessment is mainly performed by workers after the end of each section of the activity. The results assessment is mainly about the entire group activity process, the achievement of the group's total goals, and staff assessment.Through the evaluation of the results and the comparison of the team members before and after the test,it was found that the team members had significant changes in"self-recognition" and "emotion management".In the group process, the team members not only excavated their own personal communication potential, but also Learned more interpersonal skills. At the same time, there are many deficiencies in the study, including the lack of professional skills of team workers, and the follow-up work of team effectiveness is not timely.Through this study,we can find that it is feasible to apply the skills of group work to the improvement of college students' communication skills,at the same time,it provides practical experience in the study of college students' interpersonal communication.
