More and more foreign literary becomes part of high school Chinese teaching materials,especially foreign prose.Compared with traditional Chinese prose,foreign prose is different in mainly three aspects: the expression of language,the expression of the subject and the expression of beauty.However,the editors and users of teaching materials are largely unaware of the differences between Chinese and foreign prose.The inappropriate way of teaching foreign prose results in poor teaching effect.There are problems on teaching methods of foreign prose in PEP high school teaching materials.Therefore,teaching suggestions were made to solve those problems in expression of language,subject and beauty.This paper is divided into five parts.The introduction part is included by the origin of research,the literature review,the significance of research,the objects of research,the methods of research and the content of research.Foreign prose in PEP edition is defined in chapter one.The different expression of language,subject and beauty between Chinese and foreign prose is also discussed in this chapter.Foreign prose in PEP edition is classified into speech,essay and science paper according to the unit introduction in chapter two.The teaching problems of foreign prose teaching material are discussed in chapter two too.The suggestions are made from textbook,teacher's teaching book and teaching methods based on above problems in chapter three.The balance of textbook,teacher's teaching book and teaching methods is achieved by the teaching suggestions for good teaching effect.This paper is summarized in conclusion part which emphasizing teaching significance of foreign prose in PEP edition.
