Flanders interaction analysis system is a classroom observation tool, developed by American scholar Ned Flanders in the 1960 s.It consists of behavior coding, data processing and analysis means, uses quantitative analysis method in data processing,so it is both systemic and objective. But with classroom teaching changing, what inadequacy FIAS has appeared? How to improve on it?What enlightenment those improvement ideas will bring the development of classroom observation tools?By applying the method of literature, this study systematically introduces the structure of FIAS——coding system, recording rules and data analysis methods, then taking it as a tool to observe classroom teaching. It is found that FIAS in practice has the following drawbacks:(1)the record frequency is too fast to divide the semantic integrity;(2)coding input set high requirements to the observer;(3)the tenth coding is vague;(4)single quantitative methods lack depth. In view of this, this study combedsthose cases that many scholars in our country have done to improve the FIAS.It is found that we can improve FIAS from the following dimensions:(1)based on information technology;(2)based on subject characteristics;(3)based on flip the classroom.By the analysis of the test, the improved FIAS will be more fit with the current classroom teaching and have more maneuverability on the method and technology.Based on the above idea, this study suggests that trend the classroom observation tools in the future development presents are as follows:(1)the theory first, from the teacher center to the student center;(2)technical support, obsevation tools and information integrated with technology;(3)based on the fact, observation tools fuses teaching context;(4)diversed methods, combination of qualitative and quantitative.
