This study aims to explore the teaching performance for using concept mapping on the 10th general music class appreciation lessons and the difficulties which the researchers are encountered with in applying the concept mapping in the teaching of music appreciation as well as response strategies.With students of Class 13,Senior Grade 1,No.1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal University as the subject,this study conducts three sessions of research and teaching practice and observation practice,twice per session.This article consists of five parts.Part 1,Preamble,mainly illustrates the author's understanding of the research background and research motive,puts forward research issues based on the research motive,introduces the definitions of concept mapping,music appreciation education and action study,and describes the research scope and restrictions;Part 2,mainly used for literature discussion,analyzes the contents of Music subject for senior middle school,explores the theory and application of concept mapping,and studies the teaching strategies of music appreciation;Part 3,Design and Procedure,illustrates the research design and architecture,research field and subject,research tools,research process and procedure,data collection and analysis,research reliability and efficiency,research ethics and researchers' role;Part 4,Results and Discussion,takes"The Butterfly Lovers",violin concerto and Mozart Symphony No.40 in G Minor K550-1 as the core,illustrates the influence of concept mapping on students' appreciation capability upon application in the teaching of music appreciation,and puts forward the difficulties and response strategies regarding application of concept mapping in music appreciation;Part V gives the conclusions and recommendations of this study.The article gives self-reflections of the researchers in experimental teaching and research,revises and modifies the teaching content and teaching methods for the recycling course,and collects information through drawing of concept mapping,observation and interview,thus drawing the following conclusions after data collation and summarization:?.Students may identify the theme of each piece of music through emotional expression of timber of musical instruments.?.Students fail to have sufficient understanding of the application of concept mapping in music appreciation.?.Students are more willing to draw the concept mapping in groups.?.Concept mapping has great potential of application.
