In 2004,there has been some courses on general technology of Hainan province,which focus on the development of all the students,intending to improve students'technological literacy,paying attention to the development of the students' creative potential and strengthening the cultivation of the students' operational abilities,based on the view of science,technology,society,in order to strengthen the humanities education discipline.However,due to the effects of the examination system and so on,the general technical teaching modes in Hainan province are mostly theories,which don't conform to the curriculum standard,and is not conducive to the improvements of students' practical ability.Adopting the task-driven teaching mode in general technology teaching allows students to use the available technical knowledge and skills to think up some proposals and solutions to complete the task,based on current issues,feelings and understanding of the task.This paper investigates and analyzes the deficiencies of students' practical competence and also the causes through questionnaires,interviews,classroom observations and other methods,and then by making the analysis puts forward the idea of using the task-driven teaching models and strategies to enhance students' ability.The task-driven teaching model is a multi-dimensional interactive teaching philosophy which is mainly based on problem-solving and task-fulfilling.Every student,according to their current understanding of the issues,the use of the knowledge and the unique experience of their own can come up with a proposal to solve the problem and then,design some relevant activities and then test the validity on whether the task-driven model can enhance students' operational ability,and finally draw conclusions.The framework of this paper is as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,describing the research background and the significance,the current research status,as well as research contents and research methods.Chapter Two is about the analysis of the problems of students' insufficient ability and the causes of the current situation by the means of class tests and questionnaires.Chapter Three is the adopting of the task-driven teaching model and strategies to enhance students' ability.Chapter Four is the contrast between the task-driven teaching methods and traditional teaching methods,and the verification of the importance of the task-driven teaching mode on improving students' practical competence.Chapter Five are the conclusion of the research and some teaching advice.
