With the development of information age,geographical information technology has become an important content and tool gradually of geography teaching in high school.Surfer not only provides powerful technical support for the teaching of natural geography,but also provides powerful technical support for information processing and visualization.And has solved the traditional natural geography teaching insufficiency.The purpose of this paper is to provide a scientific teaching model for geography teaching in high school.This article is based on the study of a large number of documents,cognitive theory,construction theory,and the requirements of the geographic visualization of middle school teaching,Surfer technical characteristics.Two parallel classes were selected in the first and second grades of Guoxing Middle School in Hainan Province.One of the classes was an experimental class and the other was a reference class.The teaching content of the first grade is “interpretation of the contour map”,and the teaching content of the first grade is “the development of the river's topography”.In the experimental class,Surfer technology was used to assist teaching,while in the reference class,traditional teaching methods were used to carry out teaching.Through questionnaire surveys and knowledge tests on experimental classes and reference classes,the students' interest in geography learning,satisfaction,and mastery of knowledge are compared and analyzed.Explore the effectiveness of Surfer's technology-assisted geography teaching.Research indicates:1.Surfer software mapping effect and intuitive teaching content.Surfer-assisted instruction can reduce students' understanding of the knowledge they have learned and improve their interest in learning.Most students expressed satisfaction with Surfer software-assisted instruction.2.The students of the two grade experiments after Surfer assisted teaching significantly improved their performance.The number of people in high segments increased,and the number of people in low segments decreased.The average grade of students in the experimental class increased significantly.3.Using Surfer to assist geography teaching can effectively increase students' spatial analysis ability.Surfer's digitization,layer control,and 3D visualization capabilities are beneficial to students' observation and thinking of geographical things and improve their spatial analysis capabilities.4.Surfer assisted geography teaching enriched teachers' teaching methods.Teachersshould not apply blindly in the process of using Surfer technology.They should be comprehensively considered in terms of the appropriateness of teaching,the operability of the subject,and the content of teaching.The ultimate goal is to achieve optimal teaching results.
