Punishment is often used as an educational tool in the process of implementing education. However,it is difficult to grasp the methods and strengths of disciplinary action in the practical application due to the lack of clear rules and standards, and thus the phenomenon of “abuse” and “do not use” occurs. Two extreme phenomena."High school teacher disciplinary phenomenon" is the research question in this study.Through interviews and participatory observations, teachers' disciplinary actions are discussed in the course of educational practice. The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)The object of punishment is the deviant behavior in the learning process;the disciplinary measures are mainly persuasive education with language as the tool;the direct purpose of punishment is to quit the deviant behavior in the learning process, and the ultimate goal is to achieve the purpose of educating people.(2)The disciplinary process is the process of interaction between teachers and students,in which teachers play a leading role. The start and end of teacher disciplinary action is based on the student's behavior and response.(3)There are six types of disciplines commonly used by teachers: retiring for advancement, warning, finding important others, group members restraining,"Praise" criticism, softness and hardness are applied, and these methods have their own different applications.(4)The effect of punishment is generally unsatisfactory, and it is far from the goal of the teacher.Changes in student behavior and learning status are often transient and superficial changes.Through the description and analysis of the disciplinary behavior of teachers,it can be found that there are some factors that affect disciplinary action, including the characteristics of student's personality, the scope of teacher's authority and the establishment of teacher's authority.Through summarizing and rethinking the study, the following points have been discovered: The teacher's disciplinary action centers around the student's "learning problems";In the process of using disciplinary measures, the conflicts with students are avoided;the effect of disciplinary action lacks long-term effectiveness;and there is a phenomenon of transfer of punishment responsibility. This study proposes countermeasures from three aspects including teachers, education legislation, and home-school cooperation.
