Based on "Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century",the paper uses the methods of data analysis,questionnaires,and interviews to study the US localized series of textbooks "Discovering Chinese",then analyses the series of textbooks in detail.Analysts included "Discovering Chinese" Textbook(four volumes),Teachers’ Guide(four volumes),Workbook(one volume for example),Worksheets&Writing Sheets(one volume for example),and Assessments(four volumes).Analyze the writing basis,principles,styles and characteristics of the Textbook,explore the advantages and disadvantages of the textbooks in terms of vocabulary,language,text,culture,practice,etc.,and discuss the use of Textbook,Workbook,Worksheets&Writing Sheets,and Assessments.Arrangement of style,advantages and disadvantages,and with the "Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century" requirements for comparative analysis,study of teaching materials in the United States under the standard of foreign language teaching the applicability.At the same time,a questionnaire survey was conducted on students using "Discovering Chinese" from three public high schools in the United States,and two Chinese teachers who use the materials were interviewed.The valuable teaching materials feedback from the teaching frontline were acquired and suggestions for improvement of the teaching materials were obtained.Through the investigation and study of the American senior high school localization textbook "Discovering Chinese",in theory,start to do the study of this series of textbooks in China,enrich the contents and systems of Chinese language teaching materials,and expand the study of teaching materials in the field of overseas localization of teaching materials.In practice,through the in-depth study of the "Discovering Chinese" series of textbooks,the advantages and disadvantages of the textbook were found,the teaching experience and lessons were summed up,and suggestions for the compilation of textbooks and the construction of overseas native Chinese textbooks were proposed.Finally,the research result will be applied to daily teaching practice.
