STEM education is the integration of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.Students think about problems from different disciplines.They use different disciplines knowledge and skills to solve problems,to understand the value and application fields of the knowledge.The core of STEM education is discipline integration,which does not limit the educational and teaching methods.State and educational researchers encourage use technology tools or system platforms to learn STEM projects and create a harmonious learning environment on line and offline.Game based learning blurs the boundaries between learning and games,formal learning and informal learning,which can effectively improve students' interesting,immersion and self-efficacy.In the technology driven e-learning environment,the trend of integration of games and technologies is obvious.Design and development a game based learning environment based on STEM,which provides a new idea for designing STEM learning resources.The key problem to be solved in this study is Game oriented curriculum design of Primary school science under the STEM education concept and the development of the game based learning environment.Firstly,on the basis of reading a lot of literature,author analyze the current research situation of "game based learning","STEM education" and "science education",then comment the research status,define the related concepts and theoretical foundations.Secondly,author analyze the virtual learning environment based on STEM education concept,such as Virtual Age,Gogent Education,Zyrobotics.Then author summarize the design ideas of game learning environment based on STEM,present the design principles and strategies of the game based learning environment by the guidance of Situational Cognition Theory,Immersion Theory,Recent Development Zone Theory,and Narrative Centered Learning Theory.Then,author started to design the virtual learning environment of science game in primary school,which named "Science Hegemony".Finally,author do the empirical research of "Science Hegemony".The results show that the game based learning environment based on the STEM concept can effectively improve the students' interest in learning.Students explore and complete the task of the game can train students' engineering thinking effectively.Using the visual simulation software “NetLogo” to verify the influence factors of soil erosion can help students master the operation techniques of the control variable method.This study confirms the possibility of STEM education based on the game based virtual learning environment,and provides a new idea for STEM learning resource design.It provides a new perspective for training the core literacy of middle school students and promoting the comprehensive development of students.
