Biology has been developing rapidly in the 21st century.However,biology has always been a secondary subject in the junior high school and has not aroused enough attention from the teachers.Besides,since biology contains diverse and complicated knowledge points and some knowledge is micro as well as abstracted,it has caused certain difficulties to junior high school students.The traditional teaching model only contains the one-way teaching conducted by the teachers which is boring and monotonous.As a result,students neither achieve high efficiency nor have strong interest in biology learning.Nevertheless,the new curriculum standard emphasizes that biology teaching should be student-centered and focus on cultivating students'abilities of self-learning,analysis and problem solving as well as experimental exploration,so as to encourage students to develop a positive attitude towards science and a rational thinking habit.Flipped classroom exactly meets the requirements put forward by the new curriculum standard on students.Moreover,with the development of the information age,MOOC,micro-curriculum and O2O have injected fresh blood into traditional classroom teaching,and the information sources of students have become diversified.On this basis,the author tries combining O2O and flipped classroom teaching to arouse students'interest in biology,enhance their self-learning ability and improve their learning efficiency through changing the way of imparting knowledge.The author has roughly determined the research direction through reviewing a large amount of related literature.To integrate the research content and the practice links,the author conducted interviews and a questionnaire survey among first-line biology teachers and students at Zhidan Middle School.It is learned that the traditional teaching method is stilled used in the biology class in Zhidan Middle School;imparting knowledge is still the main purpose of teaching;attention fails to be paid to the students'pre-class learning;there are few exchanges between teachers and students before class;the students'active initiative is neglected;the teaching of biology cannot arouse students'learning interest;because of poor participation and interaction,the teaching efficiency is biology low.However,the network devices can basically provide the material basis for the O2O flipped classroom teaching to be carried out in this school.In this context,the author conducted a one-semester-long experiment on O2O flipped classroom practice in Zhidan Middle School with Class 6 Grade 8 as the control class and Class 7 Grade 8 as the experimental class.Firstly,the O2O flipped classroom online learning platform is constructed with the QQ chatting group as a carrier to provide a platform for students to conduct self-study and communication before class.Moreover,3 modules,i.e.“group presentation and teacher supplementation”,“problem guidance and knowledge development”and“systemization,integration and internalization”,are applied in the O2O flipped classroom to implement teacher-guided and student-oriented classroom teaching,so as to build a complete teaching process.“Hormonal Regulation of Human Body”in Section 3,Chapter 16,Unit 6 of the first volume of the biology textbook of Su version for grade 8th students is used as the teaching case studied in this paper.In the end,as indicated by a spass25.0 analysis of the final grades of the experimental class and the control class,the average grade of the control class is 47.48,that of the experimental class is 51.78,the p values of the two classes are 0.048<0.05.It implies a significant difference the post-test scores of the two classes,which shows that under the O2O flipped classroom model,students'academic performance has greatly improved.In addition,according to the questionnaire survey among students in the experimental class,most of the students have enhanced their interest in biology learning,strengthened their independent learning ability before class and improved their learning efficiency under the O2O flipped classroom teaching model.However,a small number of students think that there are too many learning tasks before class and the effect of self-study online not ideal.Besides,they are accustomed to the teaching mode featuring listening to the teacher and taking notes,and it is difficult for them to adapt to the O2O flipped classroom teaching mode where they need to conduct discussion and exploration themselves,which affects the entire process of learning.Therefore,teachers need to make further explorations.
