Nowadays, people generally accept innovation as the first power to lead development and the strategic support for building a modern economic system. At the meantime, our country is facing the goal of becoming an innovative country by 2035.The impact of technological innovation on population urbanization cannot be underestimated. In this paper,we used a panel data from 2005 to 2016 in 31 provinces and cities in China to test the significance which technological innovation infecting on population urbanization rate partially and general discussed by using the difference method of GMM.Also,we overall and dispersedly discussed the results of efficiency of explanatory variables by the DEA-panel method. The conclusions of the study are convincing in both theory and practice: The significant influence of technological innovation on industrial structure is a major impetus to the process of urbanization.Technological innovation has a significant effect on population urbanization, and the western region possessed a high positive significant.Based on the fact that the output value of the primary industry accounts for a relatively large proportion in the western region, technological innovation can further promote the urban inflow of rural population so as to increase the population urbanization rate.In addition,as a whole, technological innovation is non-optimal efficiency in terms of purely technical productivity, cost efficiency and configuration efficiency, and the eastern region has the lowest efficiency compared with the other regions.Improving the input-output efficiency of technological innovation needs to be solved. In the end,we conducted a detailed and comprehensive survey on the entire article and the solution to the problem through three major aspects.
