With the process of the higher education popularization goes deeper,the focus on the higher education development has transformed from the quantity to the quality.Our country has published documents for several times,and has put forward clearly to improve the equality of the higher education and quicken our pace to create the world-class and high-level universities,and has regarded the development of the personnel training equality of the higher education as the central part of the improvement of the higher education equality.The key to improve the personnel training equality is to reform the teaching method.At present the class sized of the classroom teaching in higher education is generally larger in our country which has effected the improvement of the education quality.Thus,it is particularly urgent to carry out the small-sized class teaching reform.The small-sized class teaching is not only the basic requirement to bring up creative talents,but also is the effective way to deepen the teaching reform.The support of the high-quality teaching resource and the promotion of the teaching reform experiments has provided an opportunity for the small-sized teaching reform.However,because the theory research and the practical exploration of the small-sized teaching which lacks experience starts late,and the complete teaching system and the objective evaluation standard has not formed.For this reason,we will meet many difficulties in the process of fulfillment.Under such a historical background and current situation,it is of great significance to discuss the fulfillment strategy of the small-sized class in our country.The small-sized class teaching does not mean simply reducing the class scale.Instead,after reducing the class scale,a series of reform will take place in teaching contents,teaching methods,teaching fulfillment,teacher-student interaction and so on.It takes the class scale reducing as its form aiming for the teaching method of discussion,exploration and inspiration,and for the improvement of the talents training quality.In western countries,the small-sized class teaching has experienced hundreds of years,the most typical are "Seminar" in University of Berlin and the "seminars for freshmen" in Harvard University.In our country,origin of small-sized class teaching can be traced back to the period of the Han Dynasty Imperial College.In modern university,the small-sized class teaching reform began in the 1990 s.There are three main forms: the small-sized class teaching reform pilot in top universities;Experimental class based on Strong discipline;the small-sized class teaching in sino-foreign cooperation universities.At present,it is necessary for small-sized class teaching reform in Chinese universities.The implementation of small-sized class teaching reform is both cultivate innovative talents inherent requirement,but also an effective way to deepen the teaching reform.At the same there are few supports for small-sized class teaching reform.Such as,promoting the concept and atmosphere,quality teaching resources to support innovation and small-sized class teaching reform experiments.But not all class needs small-sized class teaching,in different schools,different courses,different teaching content,there are different requirement for it.In our country,there exists at least four problems in small-sized teaching reform such as inefficient use of resource,lack of high-quality teaching resource,irregular teaching evaluation and unreasonable course arrangement.According to these research results above,the development of the teaching resource should be strengthen,students' initiatives towards study should be promoted in many ways and the course structure and the elective system should be perfected in the process of carrying out the small-sized class teaching.
