When we settle the problems of educational equality from macroscopic perspective related with resource allocation,the educational equality from microcosmic perspective related with interpersonal treatment inside school attract scholars' attentions.There are a lot of insufficiencies in studies on this topic at home and aboard.In terms of research object,researchers have paid more attention on undergraduates' perception of educational equality instead of primary and middle school students' perception of educational equality.In the aspect of research perspective,scholars have done the research from the perspective of adults and paid little attention to the students' subjective perception of equality.As for research framework,researchers have studied Chinese education from the existing framework of foreign theories instead of educational realities in China.In consideration of previous researches and educational practices,this study focuses on students' subjective perception of educational equality in school level.Around this central topic,four sub-questions are asked as follows:(1)How do the students form their perception of educational equality?(2)In what aspects is students' perception of educational equality shown?(3)What are the possible influences factors of students' perception of educational equality?(4)What can the schools do to improve students' perception of educational equality?Based on the literature review,we propose the conception of students' perception of educational equality i.e.based on the objective educational facts and the students' standpoints,view of equality,judgment of equality and other factors,students finally form their subjective psychological feelings on whether the education is equality or not.The main research method of this study is interview.The study conducted four rounds of semi-structured interview.53 junior middle school students and 4 teachers from H School and G School in Shanghai were interviewed.Non-participatory observation and literature analysis were also employed,which canenhance the reliability of data.Then the study adopted the content analysis method.ROST word frequency software and QRS Nvivo11.0 were used in data analysis to code qualitative data and do word frequency analysis.The study unearths the specific embodiments and influential factors of students' perception of educational equality in school.Based on the analysis above,the study reveals the specific embodiments,influential factors of students' perception of educational equality and the formation process of students' perception of educational equality.Finally,the study provides some suggestions and references for schools to improve students' perception of educational equality and school education.Research Findings: 1.The formation process of junior middle school students' perception of educational equality consists of three phases i.e.practice experience—individual cognitive processing—subjective feelings”.2.The expression dimensions of junior middle school students' perception of educational equality are(1)Respect for rights,which includes basic rights as human being,basic educational rights as a student and other rights in school.(2)Resources allocation,which includes teaching resources in class,curriculum resources in school and others objective material resources.(3)Opportunities to enjoy,which includes opportunities of classroom interaction,opportunities of serving as student leader and opportunities of activity participation.(4)Interpersonal communication,which includes communication between teachers and students,communication between students and other communication relationships.(5)Guarantee systems,which includes group rules in school,standards of reward and punishment in class,requirements of teachers.Students' perception of educational equality focuses on the interpersonal communication dimension and guarantee system dimension.3.The influence factors of students' perception of educational equality are(1)Students' experiences in school,including experiences of equality and experiences of inequality.(2)Students' personal preferences,including self-interest preference,adaptive preference andfairness preference.(3)Students' criteria of justice judgment,which includes principle of equality,principle of needs,principle of ability and principle of deserts.Based on the findings above,we can know the formation process,concrete embodiment and possible influence factors of students' perception of educational equality.In order to improve the environment of school education and the level of students' educational equality perception,schools should make full use of its own conditions to create more equal environments.Besides,teachers should pay more attention to students' requirements of educational equality.And students should overcome harmful preferences and improve their cognitive level of equality in study and practice.
