Masters of social work are important power of top talents of social workers.However,a lot of masters of social work do not work on social work when they graduate.Professional identity plays an important role in employment intention.This paper aims to to study on the condition and affecting factors of professional identity of masters of social work students to find problems in education of masters of social work and improve their professional identity.It also contributes to the construction of top talents of social workers and professionalism of social work.According to existing research,professional identity is defined as the recognition of profession based on the cognition of it,the positive attitude and behavior to study it and the identity between profession and self.This paper applies questionnaire and interviewing methods to study on the professional identity of masters of social work.The paper makes its own questionnaire and applies accidental and snowball sampling to give out 236 questionnaires.Based on social identity theory,it measures professional identity from cognition,affection and behavior,and explores affecting factors from micro,middle and macro level.It comes to the conclusion: the professional identity of masters of social work is just of medium level and is characterized as “affection first and cognition and behavior next ”.The affecting factors are characterized as “based on environment and micro factors outstand ”.At last,the paper makes suggestion on how to improve profession identity of masters of social work from school,social environment,self and family:(1)improve profession education and pay attention on the identity education.(2)build up environment of professionalism and improve social cognition.(3)improve self cognition and make scientific decision.
