With the development of curriculum reform in our country,the cultivation of students' core qualities has been paid more attention,so as constant emphasis on the cultivation of scientific literacy in standard middle school chemistry curriculum.In the traditional chemistry teaching,students' knowledge is disconnected from science,society,and technology.In recent years,STEM education gradually appears in the field of vision of domestic educators.The educational philosophy advocated by STEM is to acquire knowledge in the process of engineering design based on real situations,which makes up for the insufficiency of traditional Chemistry teaching.Chemical experiment as an important part of chemistry learning in middle schools is the basis for understanding the material world and creating new materials,duringg which requires the use of relevant knowledge of science,technology,engineering,and mathematics.Therefore,the paper tries to integrate STEM education into middle school chemistry teaching,for further cultivating students' scientific literacy and practical ability.The paper aims to integrate STEM education into chemistry teaching in Junior Middle school based on the characteristics of chemistry knowledge and curriculum standards,and to provide favorable resources and effective reference for the improvement of chemistry teaching.Researches are conducted includes:1 Analyzing the definition,theory and status quo of STEM education through literature analysis,and defining the concept and connotation of middle school chemistry teaching based on STEM education;2Integrating STEM education into the teaching model of middle school chemistry through analysis of the characteristics of teaching content in junior middle school chemistry,and designing corresponding detailed teaching cases and practices;3 After practice,helping students solve problems in learning through the analysis of teacher rating scale,student self-assessment scale andstudent self-assessment scale,as well as summarizing the advantages of the teaching model and reflecting on the deficiencies in the analysis process.Practice has proved that students have obviously improved their abilities in teamwork,information expression,and project operation,which has also helped students improve their scientific literacy and the ability to solve practical problems.The integration of STEM education into chemistry teaching in middle schools has significant effects on chemistry teaching for the third grades in middle schools.
