Since the 1990 s,with the development of economic globalization and internationalization,more and more students have chosen to study abroad.The international mobility of students not only helps to promote academic and cultural exchanges,but also make important contributions to the political and economic development worldwide.The existence of international students is an important part of the student body in world-class universities.The development of international student education is also one of the important indicators to measure the education level of a country.Therefore,vigorously developing education for overseas students and expanding the international market has become a common development strategy for all countries.Each country has formulated its own international student education policy and internationalization strategy,and China is no exception.Although the education for international students in China has developed rapidly in recent years,compared to countries with developed foreign student education such as the United States,the United Kingdom,and Australia,there is still a large gap between the quantity and quality of international student education in China.With the continuous expansion of the scale of international students,the contradiction between the expansion of scale and the improvement of education quality has become increasingly prominent.As the world's second-largest destination for international students,the UK's international student education has always been a world leader.But they are also facing the conflict between the expansion of scale and the improvement of education quality.Through the analysis of the British education policy for foreign students,the sustainability of overseas student education in China has important reference value and enlightening significance.The paper consists of five sections:Section One: Reviewing the UK's international student education policy before 1999,including the British foreign student education policy during the colonial expansion period(prior to World War II),the post-colonialization period of British foreign student education policy(post-World War II-1979),and the “full fee” period of the British foreign student education policy(1979-1998).Section Two: Presenting the backgrounds of the economic interest-oriented British International Student Education Policy(1999-2005),namely the advancement of higher education of internationalization,the intensification of global higher education competition,and the drive for the benefit of international student education.And then,introducing the major policies and presenting the specific policy implementation measures include the revision of immigration regulations,the launch of a new international student work plan,the creation of a British education brand,the promotion and promotion of British education,the launch of a “genuine British campaign”,the establishment of multiple scholarships,etc.Objectively describe the effectiveness and problems of these policies and implementation measures and summarizing the foreign student education policy of this period.Section Three: Presenting the backgrounds of the education policies for international students in the UK(2006-2011),which focus on the quality of education,are the rapid development of the international student market,fierce competition,the advancement of internationalization,and the promotion of the success of the first phase of the “Prime Minister's Initiative”.And then,introducing the major policies and presenting the specific policy implementation measures include multi-channel marketing strategies,provision of career counseling and services,promotion of employability,provision of academic support,improvement of student experience,development of a number of international student programs,improvement of service quality,and reform of the visa system,relax work restrictions,establish strategic partnerships with other countries.Objectively describe the effectiveness and problems of these policies and implementation measures and summarizing the international student education policy of this period.Section four: Presenting the backgrounds for the development of the UK's international student education policy(2011-present),which presents balanced economic benefits and education quality,are the fierce international competition,new trends in international education providers,and tight visa policies are being questioned.And then,introducing the major policies and presenting the specific policy implementation measures include expanding visa pathways,providing graduates with work plans,increasing support for scholarships,making full use of international alumni resources,close cooperation among various departments,strengthening safety protection for international students,improving the quality of international student education,and emerging countries Establish partnerships,etc.Objectively describe the effectiveness and problems of these policies and implementation measures and summarizing the international student education policy of this period.Section five: First of all,point out the problems in the education of international students in China.Then,according to the advantages and disadvantages of the education of international students in the UK,it proposes some inspirations for the sustainable development of Chinese international student education.
