The blending teaching has been greatly promoted and the teaching based on social media is changing our school.Social media teaching is the next level of web-based teaching that it changes the teaching designs and interactions between teachers and students in a systematic way.Guided by the theory of education ecology,this paper presents a systematic research on the current situation of social media teaching in 4 local universities by questionnaire and interview.We found that the use of social media in teaching is flexible,the incentive comes externally rather than internally,and social pressure forges by a habitually adaptation from the previous web-based teaching revolution is the major external incentive while to be social and altruism serve as the major internal forces;70.11% of teachers will use social media in teaching and 70.71% of them will use it to deal with students' works,and only 32.95% of the topics touches private communications so the current application areas are still public;the using behaviors mainly aims to further the interactions and interests that the data collections and analysis are often ignored;the perceived ease of use is the most important factor when determining the satisfaction;the use of social media effectively changes the role of teacher and will have a positive impact to foster the advanced educational ideas in which the desire of upgrading their teaching ability is the internal forces and the requirement from schools is the external force;the teaching abilities of university teachers are competent in three perspectives but lack in one;the basic social media operation skills and resources integration and sharing ability differ in teachers of different titles that the higher the title is the lower the abilities are.What's more,the possession of overseas education background will influence the abilities of carrying out the flipped classroom and data-based teaching,and those who possess the overseas education background will be significantly better than those who don't.The young teachers who start their teaching within in three years achieve the highest scores while those more experienced teachers who have worked over ten years achieve the lowest scores and are in need of technical supports;the challenges mainly comes from the teaching objects;the concept of social media education has yet formed;the plugged-in application provides social media a sound function in education but the data is incompatible and most teachers are concerning of the personal information leaking.Finally,in solving those problems,this paper presents four strategies.First,lowering of the use-cost and amplifying the data collecting functions as well as to better the layout are necessary to improve the ease of use;Secondly,to prevent the rigidifying of the teaching model is the method to win over the support of the target students;Thirdly,the form of a “quaternity” model of teacher training to solidify the three competent abilities and fix the insufficiency;Lastly,unifying the data standards to break the incapability of sharing is the concrete way of forming a research-oriented social media teaching.
