BackgroundWillpower is a spirit and an important psychological concept,which was defined as the ability of a person who consciously determines the purpose,dictates and adjusts his actions according to the purpose,and finally overcomes various difficulties to achieve the goal.Secondary vocational students are at an important stage of ideological maturity.In addition to knowledge,moral cultivation,life skills,and physical and mental health,they need strong willpower as a pillar to improve ourselves and achieve our goals.However,due to the influence of social environment,family environment,school education and self-quality,the situation of low-willpower of secondary vocational students is widespread,which affects the initiative of students to improve their academic ability.Therefore,strengthen the willpower of secondary vocational students has important practical significance for the growth and future development.ObjectiveThis paper aims to research the current situation of the willpower of secondary vocational students,and analyze its relevant influencing factors.And on this basis,relevant measures was provided as reference for educational decision makers and managers to comprehensively improve the willpower of secondary vocational students..Data and methodsThe survey object of this study is the secondary vocational students in Huaibei Health School 2016-2017.According to the stratified cluster random sampling method,students from 4 classes in the first and second grades were selected to participate in the survey.The survey was conducted in March 2017.The survey method was organized for self-filling on site.In this study,a total of 500 questionnaires were distributed and 480 valid questionnaires were returned,with an effective rate of 96%.This survey was conducted using a self-designed questionnaire and a willpower measurement scale.Using EXCEL2007 software for data entry and database creation,the statistical package SPSS 21.0 for data analysis.Through descriptive statistical analysis to understand the general situation and willpower status of secondary vocational students in Huaibei Health School.Univariate analyses was used T-test(two-category data)and ANOVA(multi-class data).Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of willpower.The difference was statistically significant at P<0.05.ResultsThe average score of the willpower of the secondary vocational students in Huaibei Health School was 70.53,and the SD was 11.43.The average self-control score was 13.60±3.56,the regulatory score was 11.35±2.40,and the toughness score was 13.31±3.33.The scores of consciousness were 10.95±2.48 on average;the decisive scores averaged 14.00±2.96;the target scores averaged 7.3211.79.Univariate analysis:Of the 15 related variables included,,a total of 7 variables had a significant impact on willpower(P<0.05).These 7 variables were gender,age,whether they were the only child,whether they were student cadre,the form of family education,academic record and relationship with classmates.In terms of gender,the difference in willpower between male and female secondary vocational students was statistically significant(t=6.488,P<0.001),and male students were significantly higher than female students.From the age point of view,the total scores of the willpower of the secondary vocational students of different age groups were different(F=3.950,P=0.008),and the willpower of the middle school students in the 17 and 18 age groups was significantly higher than the 16 years old age group.From the perspective of whether he is the one-child,the one-child is stronger in willpower,and the difference is statistically significant(t=2.290,P=0.022).Judging from whether or not he is a student cadre at school,there is a significant difference in the score of willpower among student cadres(t=10.267,P<0.001).The student's willpower as a student cadre is significantly higher than that of non-student cadres.In addition,there is no significant difference in whether he is falling in love is in the willpower performance(t=-0.677,P=0.499).And there was no significant difference in the total scores of the willpower of the students in different personality(F=1.774,P=0.171).There is a difference in the total scores of the willpower of the secondary vocational students in different family education methods(F=13.445,P<0.001),and the students with democratic family education have significantly higher willpower than the other two groups.The total scores of willpower of secondary vocational students with different academic performances were different(F=6.495,P=0.001),and the students with good grades were significantly higher than the other two groups.There is a difference in the total scores of the willpower of the secondary vocational students in different classmate relations(F=6.922,P=0.001),the willpower of the students with harmonious relationship is stronger than the other two groups.There was no difference in the total scores of the willpower of secondary vocational students with different family economic status(F=0.938,P=0.392).There was no significant difference in the total scores of the willpower of the secondary vocational students who participated in the activities of the clubs(F=0.917,P=0.400).Similarly,there was no difference in the total score of willpower between secondary vocational students who had different attitudes toward teaching methods(F=0.108,P=0.897).The total score of willpower did not differ in learning stress perception(F=0.893,P=0.444).There was also no difference in the total willpower score in employment stress(F=0.261,P=0.854).Multivariate analysis:gender,age,whether it is a student cadre,or a different form of family education,there is a significant difference in the willpower scores of secondary vocational students(P<0.05).Conclusion and recommendationsThis study found that the willpower of secondary vocational students in Huaibei Health School is generally above average.Gender,age,whether it is a student cadre,and the form of family education are the influencing factors of the willpower of secondary vocational students.Based on this,the following suggestions are made:on the individual aspect,students need to cultivate their independence and autonomy consciously and actively;on family aspect,parents should encourage their children to actively deal with daily life and set an example in practice;on school aspect,the importance of willpower should be emphasized,and a systematic psychological system can be established for students by arranging psychological lectures,courses and counseling,so that students can consciously cultivate their willpower in a scientific way;on social aspect,creating conditions to increase school-enterprise exchanges,providing students with training bases,increasing social integration,actively and correctly guiding secondary vocational education and job hunting through mass media and networks,and improving the social recognition of vocational education.
