Empathy is a kind of ability of perception and reaction. It is a psychological process in which individuals can recognize, understand and accept other people's emotions, opinions and behaviors. For middle school students, they are still in the period of personality development and formation.Influenced by the education environment, students' academic achievements are often the most concerned, while the improvement of students' personality is neglected. In addition, students in the middle school stage are experiencing the adolescence of "storm".While self-consciousness is developing rapidly, not completed divorced from selfcenteredness yet, emotions are fluctuant and words and deeds are impulsive. These phenomena affect students' physical and mental health in varying degrees. The improvement of empathy can help teenagers to better perceive other people's emotions, understand other people's situation, and understand other people's words and deeds, thus increasing teenagers' prosocial behavior, reducing their aggressive behavior, and improving their interpersonal relationship. In this study,a series of training programs were designed, organized and implemented to improve students' empathy ability by using campus psychodrama as the main intervention means, which has fewer traces and high participation of students. In this study, six classes of grade eight were selected as subjects. The experimental group and the control group included one experimental class and two ordinary classes, with an average of 45 students in each class. The experimental group was being intervened for 13 weeks with a total of 13 classes, while the control group was not treated. Before and after the intervention, the two groups were measured and analyzed by IRI-C.The results showed that: 1.There was no significant difference in the total score of empathy and the four subscales between the experimental group and the control group before the intervention;2.There were significant differences in the total score of empathy and the three subscales of perspective taking, fantasy and empathy concern between the experimental group and the control group after theintervention. There was no significant difference in the dimension of personal distress. Therefore, this study concludes that the intervention method of campus psychodrama can effectively enhance the empathy ability of middle school students, but the effect is not obvious on the dimension of personal distress, and the intervention method needs to be explored and improved.
