As is pointed out in the report of the Eighteenth National Congress,the fundamental task of education is to cultivate socialist builders and successors with allround development of morality,intelligence,physique and aesthetic judgment.The Nineteenth National Congress also reiterated that “the Party's educational policy and the fundamental task of Fostering Virtue and cultivating people should be fully implemented".In 2016,the state also promulgated the core literacy of various disciplines,which are the direction of today's education reform from the theoretical level of the Party and the state.In this context,history teachers should think about how to realize the basic task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” in teaching practice as a goal of the new round of national education reform.This paper systematically explored and analyzed ways and means of achieving the goal of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” in teaching practice with abundant reallife cases in order to provide readers with more fresh ideas.This paper contains five chapters.The first chapter focuses on the background and significance of this topic,then keeps going by analyzing the current research situation at home and abroad,expounding the research methods and innovative objectives of this topic.The second chapter tries to prove the necessity of implementing the fundamental task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” in junior high school history teaching practice from the following aspects: It is a practically required of national development;it is a basic task of history teaching;it is an important contents of teachers' professional development and it is an effective way to improve students' comprehensive quality.In the third chapter,the author makes an analysis of the current situation of implementing the fundamental task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” in junior middle school history teaching based on the interviews with students and teachers in 10 provinces in China.In Chapter Four,with specific teaching cases presented,the author tries to puts forward specific strategies to implement the fundamental task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” from four levels,namely national curriculum,local curriculum,school-based curriculum and social studies.The fifth chapter analyses the main problems during the practice of implementing the fundamental task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” and presented solutions and countermeasures.Generally speaking,it is necessary for both teachers and students to keep pace with the times by changing their traditional concepts of "teaching" and "learning".They should not only pay attention to the accumulation of knowledge,but also pay attention to the comprehensive cultivation of every individual.The author demonstrated various real-life cases in this chapter.By creating historical scenarios and involving students into classroom teaching,the author has successfully enabled students to feel the humanistic spirit of history,to consciously develop patriotism and set up ambitious goals,and to fight for the goal of becoming qualified successors of socialist motherland.In this way,the fundamental task of "Fostering Virtue and cultivating people” is truly achieved.
