| Based on the fundamental task of moral education,in the new era,it is a fundamental issue to cultivating students’ sound personality and noble character,promoting students’ all-round development and key competence cultivation in the reform of basic education curriculum.As the main carrier for the implementation of geographic teaching and key competence,geography textbooks are essential for achieving the teaching objectives and cultivating students’ key competence.Earth Science is a textbook with distinctive features that is responsive to the 2061 plan and the reform of science education.This paper analyzes the columns,images,and experiments of the textbook.This paper takes American textbook Earth Science as the research object and assumes these research methods: document investigation method,chart analysis method,generalization method.On the basis of summarizing the relevant research on American geography textbooks,it focuses on analyzing columns and texts,images and experiments of this book.The columns of this book are rich and varied,each of which covers 24 categories,including navigation experiments,scientific online,mathematics applications,runs through the three major links: pre-learning,while-learning and post-learning.The functions of the columns are different and they complement each other,which promote the comprehensive development of students.The text is concise and the language is vivid,which greatly enhances the attraction to students.The variety of images is diverse and abundant,all of which reflects the characteristics of the discipline.Image design combines with students’ realities closely,which has unique advantages in cultivating scientific literacy.The category of experiments is varied and the function of experiments is remarkable.Especially the mini-experiment,family experiment and laboratory experiment are distinctive,which inspire students to explore independently.The experimental design is rigorous,standard and reasonable,guiding students to discover,analyze and solve problems scientifically.The distinctive features of the columns and texts,images and experiments in the American textbook Earth Science.This has implications for the development of junior high school geography textbooks in China,such as the addition of columns,images,experimental types and deepening of textual expressions,image design and experimental processes.This paper conducts a more in-depth analysis of the characteristics of American textbook Earth Science,but there are still the following problems that need to be explored.First,the educational ideas and writing ideas of the textbook can be further explored.Second,the content structure or deep system of the textbook deserves further analysis.Third,the important characteristics of interdisciplinary integration of American geography departments need further research. |
