Geography textbook is the most important learning resources for the teachers andstudents who study geography. In the guidance of curriculum standards, the geographyteacher according to geography textbook select the teaching contents flexibly to helpstudents to achieve teaching goals. Analysis of geography textbook is the beginning ofall the teaching activities, however, nowadays most of geography teachers haven’t paidmuch attention to the geography book, and many teachers copy the content analysis inthe reference books directly without their own ideas, which is extremely adverse for thedevelopment of education and teacher professionalization in China. In the face of suchsituation, this passage uses the method of searching literature and interview to do theanalysis study combining with the general mode of the textbook analysis, and choosesone of the most difficult chapter " planet Earth " in high school geography1publishedby PEP as an example to put forward relevant teaching suggestions and provideguidance for the analysis of other chapters of geography textbooks.The paper consists of six parts. Part1is the background of the research, includingproblem presentation, purpose and significance of the research and methods. Thesecond part introduces the relevant concepts, teaching material analysis about therelevant literature review of some experts and scholars, to put forward the generalmode of textbook analysis. The third part introduces the textbook analysis on systemstheory in the course of the study, as the theoretical part of this thesis. Part4is a textbookanalysis of the chapter--“-planet Earth”and this part is the core content, which containsoverall analysis and local analysis. This part can be divided into two aspects: on onehand, it is overall analysis of textbook, including the background analysis, textbooksexternal linkages analysis and the analysis of internal structure; on the other hand, it isanalysis of partial textbook, including the curriculum requirements andinterpretation, the role of this chapter in geography1, the analysis of the knowledgestructure in this chapter, ability analysis, the emotion, attitude and value analysis, theanalysis of important and different points, describing structure analysis of this chapteras well as the section by section analysis. The fifth part introduces the specificteaching suggestions from the processing link scheduling and specific knowledge. Part 6comes to a natural conclusion.It is believed that six parts which mentioned above are also appropriate for all thegeography textbooks. Detailed analysis to various chapters can serve teaching better.
