Nowadays,China is experiencing urbanization with the most extensive mobility and migration,which causes many children to be left behind.According to the data released by the 5th national census,the number of left-behind children in China exceeds 23 million,and 19.8 million of these children live in rural areas.In recent years,frequent events concerning rural left-behind children have become complicated during China's industrial and social development.A large number of left-behind children in rural China receive backward education and are mostly raised by grandparents.Due to longstanding parental absence,living with grandparents,these children are greatly influenced by their grandparents in terms of habits,experience and educational notion,which has an adverse effect on their physical,mental and academic growth.All this hinders individual development.Meanwhile,a majority of rural left-behind children have no access to education that satisfies social demand,which is unfavorable to both the construction of new-type socialist countryside and modernization in China.Therefore,it is urgent to promote family education outcomes of left-behind children in virtue of social work involvement.Moreover,how to enable these children to have access to better education has become a top issue,and thus we should attach importance to it.This paper takes left-behind children under 16 years of age and in the custody of grandparents in L Village,Chongru Town,Xiapu County as study objects.Methods employed in this paper include literature study,interview and questionnaires.From the perspective of social work,this paper aims to learn family education of left-behind children brought up by grandparents,collect a series of information about them and then examine this case.This paper consists of four parts.The first part mainly presents the relevant concepts regarding left-behind children in the custody of grandparents as well as specific theories of social work.The second part gives an introduction to current conditions and problems of family education received by left-behind children in L Village,Chongru Town in Xiapu County.The third part is about the process of involvement in certain case including preparation,prediction,planning,involvement,assessment and finishing.In the fourth part,related strategies and suggestions are discusses.Based on the prior survey,this part presents feasible strategies to improve education outcomes of left-behind children brought up by grandparentsThis paper makes conclusions and reflections based on assessment to social involvement.Social work involvement in certain case is needed to promote education of left-behind children in the custody of grandparents.However,more importantly,family,society and government should assume responsibility for promoting education outcomes of left-behind children brought up by grandparents.All social works should fulfill obligation to bring love,attention and bright future to left-behind children in the custody of grandparents.
