The university is a gathering place for high-level talents,and the development of the university is closely related to high-level talents.As President Mei Yiqi once said: "The so-called university people,there is no such thing as a building,there is also a master." Mr.Zhu Kezhen also said: "Professor is the soul of the university,The quality of a university's academic atmosphere,Which depends entirely on the selections of professors.If there are many professors in the university,whose life's work is the study of learning,supreme duty is to educate the future generations.a good style of study will naturally develop,and erudite scholars will be constantly cultivated." It can be seen that university professors,as the soul and core of the university,dominate the development direction of teaching and research in universities.Even in the period of social unrest,political corruption,and economic demise in the Republic of China,there were many literati in the group of professors at that time.A large number of academic masters emerged,creating rich academic achievements and laying the foundation for academic development in China.The reason why these groups of professors of the Republic of China have been written and praised Still now is that their academic spirit and style inspire future generations,In particular,the academic characteristics of university professors in the republic of China are still of great academic research value.Therefore,It is necessary for us to take it as a guide and to use history as evidence to explore the academic characteristics of the professors of the Republic of China and promote the development of the current university professor community.Therefore,on the basis of defining the concept of university,professor and academic characteristics,this paper analyzes the academic mission and responsibility of professors from the perspectives of university essence,university attribute and university mission,and expounds the relationship between university and professor,university academic organization and academic characteristics of professors.Secondly,it summarizes and generalizes the two sources of the professor group of the Republic of China and the three stages of development.Finally,the academic characteristics of the professors of the University of the Republic of China are summarized from the academic perspective: first,the profound knowledge and extensive readings,manifested by a good command of Chinese and Western learning,literature and science,ancient and modern learning;second,the academic level is excellent,the vision is broad,manifested in outstanding academic achievements and advanced academic ideas;third,academic style is unique,each show its talent,manifested in rich teaching content,diverse research paths,various teaching and research methods;fourth,high academic morality,rigorous academic style,manifested in abiding by academic norms,assuming academic responsibility and carrying out academic criticism.The reasons why the professors of the Republic of China have the above academic characteristics are as follows: first,the common academic pursuit and strong academic responsibility.Second,the establishment of the university professor system and the free academic atmosphere,and the third is the influence of the social environment and edification of traditional culture at that time.The academic characteristics of the professors of the Republic of China enlighten us that only by improving the professor's literacy,perfecting the university system,and creating a relaxed social environment can we highlight the academic level of university professors and present the academic characteristics that university professors should have.
