Study On The Application Of Cartogram In Geography Teaching

With the development of geography information technology and the popularizatiorn of multimedia technology in middle school teaching,cartography and display becomes more convenient,which provides technical guarantee for the application of cartogram in middle school geography teaching.Therefore,it is necessary to deeply explore the application principle,application scope,application strategy and teaching effect of cartogram in middle school geography teaching.Under the guidance of modern educational theories such as multiple intelligences theory and intuitional instruction theory,this paper uses documentary method to review and collect materials,adopts case analysis method to illustrate the application strategy of cartogram in geography teaching,and finally uses questionnaire survey method to test the application effect of cartogram in geography teaching.The application of cartogram in geography teaching should follow the principle of"life",subsidiarity and contemporaneity,and the scope of application should be limited to the cartogram that students are familiar with.On the basis of this,the spatial distribution characteristics of geographical elements should be displayed,and certain application strategies should be combined.The strategies to be adopted in application of cartogr,am in geography teaching include:(1)optimizing the processing and combination of cartogram:secondary processing of cartogram,rational combination of cartogram and the ordinary map,and combination of multiple cartograms;(2)effective application steps are as follows:creating teaching situations,laying a good foundation for situations,presenting cartograms,arousing students' interests and thinking,analyzing concepts,understanding the principle of cartogram,guiding observation,obtaining relevant conclusions,practicing consolidation and constructing mental maps;(3)showing various application ways:taking cartogram as the classroom teaching resource,the geography extracurricular reading material and the geography information technology practice content.Finally,it is proved by the case teaching practice that the application of cartogram in geography teaching can promote the development of students to a certain extent and obtain better teaching effect.
