Tragic works are literary works that contain the aesthetic characteristics of tragedy.It indirectly affirms the positive value of the tragic protagonist in a negative way by describing the misfortune caused by the inevitable conflict suffered by the protagonist.Tragic works not only evoke the sorrowful emotions of readers,but also purifies their souls and give them uplifting power.For primary school children,tragic works have the humanistic education value of enriching emotional experience,improving moral level,cultivating aesthetic ability,strengthening life consciousness and shaping sound personality.This paper takes four sets of primary school Chinese textbooks published by People’s Education Publishing House,Jiangsu Education Publishing House,Beijing Normal University Press and Shanghai Education Publishing House as the research blueprint,and selects the tragic works as the specific research object.On the basis of combing the relevant literature of tragic works,defining the concept of tragic works,analyzing the characteristics of tragic works and their educational value to primary school children,Using content analysis method,this paper makes a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the anthology of tragic works in four sets of textbooks from the following four aspects: the number of selected texts,the source of selected texts,the presentation of selected texts,and the form and content of selected texts.At the same time,the author compares four sets of textbooks in the anthology of tragic works by using the method of comparative study,and concludes the characteristics and differences they present in the anthology of tragic works.Finally,based on the results of content analysis and comparative study,this paper concludes the existing problems in the anthology of tragic works in primary school Chinese textbooks,and puts forward some Suggestions on how to improve the suitability of the anthology of tragic works.The research found that the problems in the selection of the tragic works in the four sets of primary school Chinese textbooks include: 1.The distribution of the number of selected texts is somewhat uncoordinated in different grades;2.The source of the selected texts is relatively narrow and the times are not strong;3.The moral inculcation in the selected texts is strong,and the unreasonable deletion and modification will destroy the tragic meaning of the selected texts;4.The distribution of the type and emotion orientation is unbalanced,and the image of the object is flat;5.Illustrations,text-assisted reading and after-school exercises do not fully reflect the characteristics of tragic works.In response to the research findings,the research finally proposes the following five selected suggestions: 1.Appropriately increase the number of selected works of tragic works,pay attention to the diversification and timeliness of the selected works;2.Start from the tragic works themselves and carefully delete them;3.Pay attention to the diversity of selected works of tragic works,rich the genre and theme of the selected works;4.Based on the children’s standard,adapt the content of the tragic works to the development needs of primary school students;5.Properly arrange text-assisted reading,illustrations and after-school exercises,highlight the characteristics of tragic works.
