Basing on the knowledge of tragedy psychology and children's physical and mental development rule, this thesis uses literature research, case analysis and comparative study method, and analyzes the tragic works which accounts for 30% in PEP Chinese Textbooks of Senior High School with the guidance of Criteria for Chinese Course in High School. This thesis mainly discusses the functions of tragic works in emotion venting, aesthetic education and warning, and ensures the feasibility of the tragedy of interpretation teaching according to the three characteristics of layout-genre diversity of PEP, combination of Chinese and western, the difficulties of interpretation which from shallow to deep, and combination of the inside and outside class with gradually moving toward extracurricular. Thus, according to the three difficult points of the tragic works, namely the contradiction of aesthetic distance, aesthetic judgment and the contradiction between moral judgment and the contradiction of aesthetic attitude, this thesis shows the key points to the interpretation of the tragic works— the creation of reading situation, the analysis of the character image features, the analysis of conflict and exploration of thinking. Finally, in the comparison of the aesthetic function between non-tragic works and the tragic works, this article further affirms the irreplaceable position of tragic works in the aesthetic field.
