The relationship between population and economic development is one of the most fundamental and important issues in human society.The coordinated development of population and economy has always been a research hotspot in all walks of life.This research expands the research scale to the town level on the basis of the national policy of “village rejuvenation” and “beautiful village” and the research of the predecessors.Based on the township scale,the index system of population and economy development is coordinated.The model analyzes the spatial pattern of coordinated development of population and economy in the six central provinces,and explores the spatial differences and influencing factors of the coordinated development of township population and economy,and expects to provide some basis and reference for township construction.The main findings of the study are as follows:First of all,the spatial distribution of population and economy in the six towns and villages in central China is significantly different.First,the spatial distribution pattern of the high-medium-low level area in the population subsystem is "speckle-continuous area-cluster".The regional agglomeration of population subsystem is obvious,which is in the shape of "spots" and mainly concentrated in the plain area of six provinces.The agglomeration state of the middle level area is relatively significant,presenting a "continuous area" distribution,which is mainly divided into a large area around the high level area.The agglomeration state of the low level area is very significant,showing a "lumpy" distribution,mainly distributed in the mountainous and hilly areas of the six provinces in the middle part of China.Second,the spatial distribution pattern of the high-medium-low level area of the economic subsystem is "multi-speckle-small area-large group".The high level of agglomeration is significant,showing a "multi-spot" distribution,mainly concentrated in plain areas and areas rich in natural resources.The agglomeration state of the middle-level area is significant,showing a "multi-area" distribution,mainly distributed around the high-value area and in the plain and basin area.The agglomeration status of the low level area is significant,showing a "large group" distribution,which is distributed in the six provinces in the middle of China,and the agglomeration area is large.Secondly,from the view of coupling degree,the distribution of high-medium-low coupling degree horizontal region in the central region is more complex.Towns with high value coupling degree are mainly distributed in central and northern Henan province,the middle and lower Yangtze River plain in Anhui province and the plain of Han River in Hubei province.A number of small high-value areas are scattered in each province,presenting a spatial distribution pattern of "two clusters with multiple spots".The median coupling degree of township agglomeration is mainly distributed in the southeast of Henan province,the eastern part of Hubei province,the central part of Hunan province,the central part of Shanxi Province,the central part of Anhui province and most of the towns and villages in Jiangxi province.The median area of many small areas is scattered in each province region,showing the distribution pattern of "multiple regions and multiple spots" in space.The low-value coupling degree cluster towns are mainly distributed in the east-west cluster area divided by the south-southwest strike basin in Shanxi Province and the long and narrow cluster area of low-value towns in the whole western region of Hunan province.The low-value areas of several small areas are scattered in each province,presenting a spatial distribution pattern of "three belts with multiple spots".Then,the overall spatial pattern is similar to but different from the coupling degree.The areas with high degree of coupling coordination are mainly distributed in the eastern,central and northern part of Henan province,the western part of Sanmenxia,the central and southeastern part of Hubei province,and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Anhui province.The median area is mainly distributed in the basin area of the southwestern-northeastern trend of Shanxi Province,the western part of Hubei province,the central part of Hunan province,and the large area of the cluster of median towns connected with Jiangxi province and Anhui province.The low value area is mainly distributed in the west of Hunan province and the whole northwest of Shanxi Province.On the whole,from the perspective of spatial correlation,there is a strong correlation between population and economic coupling coordination degree of towns in the central region,and the agglomeration effect of the development of local towns in the central region in central China is obvious,indicating that the development of local towns in the central region has a strong interaction.Finally,this paper analyzes the spatial differences of the coordination degree of townships and towns in the six central provinces,and believes that natural factors such as topographic climate,path dependence and path locking,resource-population two-way promotion,promotion of industrial agglomeration areas,and radiation-driven influence of core cities are the main influencing factors of spatial differences.
