With the steady and rapid development of China’s economy and urbanization, the annual increase of new land area in the city continues to increase.China faces the blind expansion of construction land and the contradiction of 18 million mu of cultivated land red line developed for the protection of rural land resources,Increasing land use is becoming more and more important because of the lack of land resources. However, the land use status of our country is not ideal,On the one hand, the urban construction land area blind expansion;at the same time, there is a lack of reasonable distribution, industrial land area is too large, road and bridge, medical institutions, parks and other public infrastructure area are lack;moreover, urban building volume rate is low,the mainland of China is only 0.78,but it differ greatly compared with the developed areas city.Population as the main body of market consumption, along with the change of population quantity, quality, structural and distribution changes, have a significant impact in the demand, configuration and space layout for urban land resources. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to understand the impact of population factors on the intensive use of urban land resources and to change the input and distribution of urban land production factors by improving the current situation of all aspects of the population. This article building panel data about 30 provincial capital cities in China in 2003-2013 as the research sample, establishes an index system of intensive utilization of urban land resources, and using the global principal component method to measure the city each year comprehensive grade of urban land intensive utilization.Based on this, the paper explores the influence mechanism of the four aspects of the population factor, and uses the panel data model to test the influence direction, the degree and the regional differences of the three regions in the east, middle and west regions, and obtain the corresponding policy meaning. In this paper,we study the main research contents and results are as follows:The first chapter is introduction, concentrated clarified the research background, research purpose and significance, determine the research methods and technical roadmap of this paper and systematically combs and summarizes the literature of close connection between population factors and urban land resources intensive use at home and abroad, and finally deduces the research content of this paper. The second chapter is the definition, theoretical basis and analysis framework.First, the relevant concepts are introduced in detail, and then a series of theoretical knowledge applied in this study will be described in detail. Finally, the full text analysis framework is proposed. The third chapter analyzes the theoretical mechanism which influences the intensive use of urban land resources from the perspective of population factors, mainly discusses the detailed mechanism of the four aspects of population factors from the aspects of internal and external mechanisms. The fourth chapter is to measure the intensive use of urban land resources.First of all, this paper explains the criterion of index selection, establishes the evaluation system based on this, and then uses the global principal component method to measure its comprehensive score. The results show that most of the provincial capitals have a low level of concentration, and there are significant spatial differences, which basically show that the general rule of the inland areas of the central and western regions are lower than the national average and the national average is lower than the eastern region.During the study period, the intensive utilization of urban land resources in the provincial cities showed a rapid growth. The fifth chapter is the influence of population factors on the intensive use of urban land resources.First,by analyzing the status quo of the four components of the population factor, then select the relevant explanatory variables and control variables, construct the panel model, carry out the panel unit root,co-integration test, panel model selection, finally, the model regression is carried out to verify the previous theoretical analysis. This part of the measurement analysis mainly draws the following conclusions:From the national level of measurement conclusions can be seen, the population density, the number of students in colleges and universities, the proportion of tertiary industry employment population has a positive impact on urban land use, population urbanization has a negative impact on urban land intensive use.It can be seen from the regional regression results that the increase in the population density and the number of students in colleges in the western region have the greatest impact on improving the intensive use of urban land resources, followed by the central region and the lowest in the eastern region;the proportion of the employed population in the eastern and western regions has a positive effect on the urban land intensive use;the urbanization of urban land resources is restricted by the urbanization of the central and western regions. From the control variables, the total output of the economy, the increase in the investment of fixed assets, the improvement of the land marketization level and the implementation of the agricultural land protection policies all promote the intensive use of urban land resources. The last chapter is the conclusion and policy recommendations.Summarize the summary and prospect of this study, and put forward relevant policy recommendations.
