The geography curriculum of junior middle school in compulsory education stage in our country uses the curriculum standard of the 2011 edition,which has been implemented for 8 years.In order to meet the needs of education in the new era,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Geography Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 edition)in early 2018,which carried out new curriculum programs and standards and condensed the core quality of disciplines.At present,the research work of junior middle school curriculum reform under the framework of core literacy has started.In the process of reform,we need to actively learn from the advanced ideas and practices of foreign countries.Ireland is one of the countries with the highest per capital education level in the world and the earliest education reform centered on cultivating students' core competencies.Many educational thoughts and reform practices are worth learning.This paper takes the geography curriculum standards and geography textbooks of junior middle schools in Ireland and China as the research object.Firstly,starting with the analysis of the main basis for compiling the textbooks-the geography curriculum standards of junior middle schools in the two countries,it compares and analyses the curriculum standard structure,the concept and objectives of the curriculum standards,the content and evaluation of the curriculum standards.The study finds that Ireland's geography curriculum standard for junior middle school pays more attention to the content of geography practice and the evaluation of geography curriculum than that of China's,and the curriculum content is graded and the connection of geography knowledge is more emphasized.Then the surface system(text system,image system,activity system and operation system)and the deep system(geographical knowledge system,geographical intelligence system and geographical ideological education system)of junior high school geography textbooks of the two countries are comprehensively and meticulously compared and analyzed.It is concluded that Ireland5 th textbook has the following characteristics: tighter logic of text system,higher picture quality of image system,more collective activities of activity system,andvarious types of operation system topics.According to these characteristics and the analysis results of junior middle school geography curriculum standards,the author puts forward some suggestions for the revision of junior middle school geography curriculum standards and the compilation of textbooks in China: for example,adding different levels of courses in curriculum standards,increasing the specific requirements of implementing the cultivation of geographical practical ability;textbook system should strengthen the logic of textbook language,enhance the readability of reading materials;image system should improve the map The quality of image should increase the proportion of structure chart and flow chart;the activity system should increase collective activity;and the operation system should set up practical work topics to enrich the number and type of images in the operation.
