With the intensification of the aging process in our country,the changes in the family function structure and the low birthrate of the family urge more and more elderly people choose institutions to get nursing service.The demand for long-term care services in institutions from the traditional daily care to more and more elderly people today to mental comfort,health rehabilitation and other content of the demand.The values and service methods of social work are in line with the service needs of old-age institutions.Social workers can play an important role in old-age institutions such as consultants,coordinators,educators,and supporters,and play an important role in the quality of life of the elderly,especially the spiritual needs of the elderly.Taking the old-age institution A in Nanchang City as a case study,this study conducted a survey on the elderly in the institution through a questionnaire survey method.The study found that the needs of the elderly in the current institution mainly focus on spiritual comfort,cultural entertainment,medical care,and interpersonal communication.Through structured and unstructured visits,in-depth interviews were conducted with administrative staff,social workers and civil affairs staff in the area in charge of old-age care.The results show that social work has problems and difficulties such as low degree of specialization,low degree of social identity,great administrative pressure,and difficulty in linking voluntary service.In view of the difficulties of social work in institutions for the elderly,this study puts forward corresponding countermeasures from three levels: government,institutions and social workers.Government solve the problem of low degree of specialization by training professional social workers,on the basis of this,in cooperation with the old-age institutions to improve the social recognition of the social work profession;Institutions solve the problem of weak development of social work services by broadening the channels for purchasing funds for social work services;Institutions improve the effectiveness of elderly services by accelerating the establishment of standards and evaluation systems for professional social work services in long-term care institutions,and to avoid restrictions on professional autonomy arising from the intervention of social workers in the practice of social work;Urging institutions for the elderly tostrengthen training and supervision of social workers and improve their professional social work service capabilities;Social workers create a professional and stable team of volunteers to provide security for social work services.
