Under the background of the new curriculum reform the traditional geography teaching mode,which is dominated by teachers' explanation,can no longer meet the needs of students' quality development and the training of talents in the country.Geography knowledge is complicated and abstract,yet,junior middle school students' spatial thinking ability and imagination are weak.so students can't get intuitive feeling from life.At present,students' interest in geography study is low,which affects geography achievement.Therefore,geography teachers in junior high school can not teach geography knowledge alone.Teachers' teaching should conform to the trend of new curriculum reform,keep pace with the times,and update geography teaching methods and concepts in time.According to the idea of learning by doing,this paper is designed around the research on the cultivation of junior high school students' geographic practical ability under the concept of learning by doing in order to make students experience diversified classroom learning.Teachers use rich teaching methods to change abstract knowledge into intuitive learning,stimulate students' interest in learning geography,and cultivate students' geographical practice.On the basis of pyramid learning theory,learning by doing theory,intuitive teaching theory and constructivism learning theory,this paper adopts questionnaire survey,literature research,statistical analysis and case teaching method to study the literature about the idea of learning by doing at home and abroad.This paper sums up the core concept of the idea of learning by doing,summarizes the status quo of the research on the idea of learning by doing at home and abroad,and sums up the domestic research.Finally,the research direction of this paper is determined.In this study,the students and two geography teachers in Kaifeng No.8 Middle School and the geography teachers of "National Training Plan" of Henan University in 2017 were investigated.The questionnaire of students and teachers is designed by drawing on the advantages of previous questionnaires and combining the opinions of mentors.Through the investigation of the present situation of students' geography learning and the teaching strategy practice under the concept of learning by doing carried out by their classes,the data obtained are analyzed.The results show that:(1)most teachers understand the idea of doing middle school,but they are not applied to geography teaching practice,and their executive ability is not enough;(2)Most of the students are not interested in studying geography,so they need to improve their interest in geography study;(3)students' hands-on ability is insufficient,and geographical practice needs to be improved.In view of these problems,this paper puts forward the corresponding geography teaching strategies of cultivating junior high school students' geographic practical ability under the concept of learning by doing:(1)Teachers should change their ideas and keep pace with the times;(2)Teachers create new learning environments,such as,learning by doing,learning by drawing and learning by playing;(3)Teachers create a charming interactive of learning by doing geography classroom;(4)Geography teachers should require students to study the geography in life.Through the teaching demonstration of the second grade of middle school in Kaifeng City,the geography teaching strategies of cultivating junior high school students' geographic practical ability under the concept of learning by doing is applied to geography classroom,and the effect is obvious.In the process of teaching,teachers found that most of the students' interest increased obviously,they were more willing to take the initiative to learn geography knowledge.Students' geographical ability has been improved obviously and easier to understand abstract geographic knowledge.The student's geography study way is improved obviously,and diligently in the hands-on brain.The survey found that students hope that teachers in the process of teaching more practical activities.The innovation of this article lies in how to carry out and implement the idea of learning by doing in cultivating junior high school students' geographic practical ability.This research puts forward some corresponding teaching strategies,and carries on the empirical research with the concrete teaching case.Hoping to further in-depth research in the future teaching practice,in order to expand the research results.
