In the times of knowledge economy,STEAM education has attracted widespread attention around the world.It is originated from STEM education,but has further extension and expansion compared to STEM education.It is a new form of education that incorporates creative problem-solving skills,such as reading and writing skills,which refers to an idea of integrated interdisciplinary.With the development of our society,scientific thinking and humanistic qualities are increasingly emphasized by countries.Scientific expository writing regarded as a highly practical literary style occupies important position in Chinese teaching.However,today's expository writing still has problems such as shallow teaching content,negligible writing and students' incomprehension.In view of the above problems mentioned,this paper based on STEAM education concept,which adopts STEAM education strategy and relies on constructivist learning theory,inquiry learning theory and situational teaching theory,carries out the experiment to explorescientific expository writing that based on STEAM education concept.This experiment is conducted with fifth-grade students in W city primary school.140 students are divided into experimental group and control group.The experimental group adopts the project-based teaching that based on the STEAM concept,while the control group adopts the traditional writing method.After the experiment,the results are determined by the data analysisThe final research has the following conclusions: First,scientific expository writing based on the STEAM educational concept has a positive impact on the students' writing compared with the traditional teaching.Among them,the experimental group has achieved great results in writing grades.Second,it has a positive impact on students' self-efficacy.After the project exploration and group collaboration,the experimental group students can further understand the characteristics of the things,so as to better grasp the writing content,which greatly increases the students' self-confidence in writing.Third,students have shown great interests and enthusiasm in STEAM project learning style.Compared to the traditional teaching method,most experimental students are more inclined to use the project learning style to further study scientific expository writing.Therefore,this study believes that the application of STEAM education concept in the expository writing class plays a greater role inpromoting teaching and writing.STEAM education promotes interdisciplinary integrated,students grasp cross-disciplinary relationships between disciplines,and STEAM project learning can cultivate students' critical thinking,creativity and problem-solving skills.
