Study On The Social Mentality Of The Masses In Wenchuan Earthquake

The Wenchuan earthquake has been more than ten years.Over the past decade,the disaster-stricken areas have undergone immense changes.Last February,President Xi Jinping made a special trip to Yingxiu Town,the epicenter of the Wenchuan Earthquake,to encourage the people in the disaster areas to achieve greater success and create a better life.People in the disaster areas have a stronger desire for a better life in the coming of the new era.However,when pursuing such a life,some people have some wrong conceptions,such as "waiting for something without work,depending on others,asking for everything".Most people are content to remain where they are now.And they feel anxious instead of striding for a good life.These factors greatly stopped the people from creating a better life.Therefore,a related study discovers the factors of affecting the social mentality of the people in the disaster areas,and it offers solutions to the problems in a targeted manners that will help the people to do so.This paper applies qualitative research methods to obtain rich first-hand information by communicating with people and doing several interviews.Then the author follows the research paradigm of grounded theory and uses the qualitative research software Nvivo11 to encode and analyze the interview data,which aims to construct the current situation and factors that influence the social mentality of the people in the disaster area.The study finds that the social mentality of the people in the disaster areas which shows its positiveness and negativity,including the following four aspects: coexistence of open and inclusive and relative deprivation symbiosis;optimism and anxiety confusion;self-reliance and "reliance on dependence";gratitude and hard work mix with the state of mind and the minds of small farmers who are not enterprising.Based on the above situation,the author analyzes the factors which affect the social mentality of the masses in the disaster areas.It is found that the social mentality of thepeople in the disaster areas is mainly affected by three factors: First,the interests in substances are the key factors affecting the social mentality of the people.The mentality changes with the gains and losses in different time.The income level at this stage is a fundamental factor of affecting the social mentality of the people.Secondly,the impact of policy has two-way influences.The people are generally satisfied with the policies formulated by the state,but they are not content with the implementation of policies carried by the government.Finally,from the perspective of cultural psychology,the "relationship concept",social cognition,and comparative psychology formed by the people in the disaster area have a potential impact on their social mentality.It should be noted that the influence of the above three factors on the social mentality of the people in the disaster area is not isolated.They interact with each other and affect the social mentality of the people in the disaster area as a whole.On the basis of in-depth analysis of the influencing factors of the social mentality of the masses in the disaster areas,the writer put forward to some measures and suggestions to guide the people to form an active and healthy social mentality.First of all,from the aspect of material interests,it is necessary to increase the income to help the people by improving the quality of employment and encouraging them to start their own businesses,by the way,it is essential to develop modern agriculture and tourism.Secondly,in view of the factors at the policy level,this paper proposes to strengthen the construction of cadres' work style,providing information and publicity,and encourage the people to participate the political activities in an orderly way to eliminate misunderstandings in the process of policy implementation.Finally,in response to some negative thoughts and concepts of the people,it is proposed to strengthen the ideological guidance of the masses by improving a kind of rational thought and carrying forward the spirit of disaster relief and developing and expanding the labor spirit.
