Teachers' reputation,as an academic community's recognition of teachers,has the advantages of the unity of individual rationality and collective rationality.Reputation can be regarded as not only the honor performance of teachers,but also an intangible asset of teachers and indirect capital owned by teachers.Effective reputation management can not only motivate teachers individually,but also achieve the long-term development of universities themselves.Whether from the individual or collective point of view,reputation incentive provides a win-win management idea for University teachers' management.With the development of colleges and universities,some opportunistic behaviors have emerged in the group of University teachers.Teachers have become egoists and seek their own interests by deceiving or concealing.This behavior not only damages the personal reputation of teachers,but also makes the universities questioned by the public.So how to further encourage the enterprising spirit of teachers in the management of University teachers? To achieve incentive compatible institutional environment has become an urgent problem for us to solve.In the field of higher education in China,there are many forms of incentives for University teachers.These incentives,no matter what the form,are the product of the social environment at that time.They are compatible with the external environment.They are inspiring for us to explore the issue of incentives for University teachers' reputation today.Summarizing the past incentive measures for the management of University teachers,there are two types: internal incentive and external incentive.Nowadays,the reputation incentive we study is the combination of internal incentive and external incentive.It not only stimulates the enterprising spirit of University teachers,but also brings material supplement to teachers,which is helpful to eliminate or reduce incentive incompatibility in the management of University teachers.It is of great significance to the further development of higher education.Based on the theory of reputation,mechanism design and path dependence,and on the basis of defining the concepts of reputation,incentive,incentive compatibility and incentive incompatibility,this study takes the incentive system of University teachers' reputation as the research object,combs the management methods of teacher's reputation incentive in the management of university teachers in China,clarifies the current situation of teacher's reputation incentive,and proceeds from it.Nowadays,there are four main problems in the encouragement of University teachers' reputation in China: abuse of reputation,misuse of reputation,distortion of reputation,and official reputation.In this study,the causes of these problems are classified into macro and micro levels,and the problems are viewed from different perspectives.Finally,in view of the causes of the problems and on the basis of drawing lessons from foreign relevant management experience,it is considered that optimizing the reputation incentive of university teachers in China can start with renewing the administrative system of universities,resume the reputation system of University teachers,improving the reputation evaluation system,paying attention to the moral considerations of University teachers,and reconstructing the ethical standards of University teachers.
