The Relationship Between Narcissistic Personality And Cyber Bullying:the Study On The Role Of Emotional Regulation And Its Intervention

Narcissistic personality,as a special form of self-knowledge,has attracted attention in terms of personality research recently.Relevant studies have shown that there is gap between the concept and who they really are among narcissistic group,and they consider themselves to be superior and privileged,which leads to distinguished speeches and action compared with other individuals.Bullying in campus has been the heated topic these years,with the popularity of digital products and the emergence of Internet,a new way of bullying,cyberbullying therefore becomes another trouble.Compared with traditional bullying,cyberbullying,as a new form of bullying,features in relatively lower requirements to undertake,easier and broader transmission and deeper trauma curved in mind.Hence,it is meaningful in practical aspect to study on current relationship between narcissistic personality.This essay based on the experiments conducted on 401 students(10 years or more)of a primary school in Haizhu District,Guangzhou.By using questionnaire,this essay aims to figure out the relationship between narcissistic personality and cyberbullying and discuss what role does emotion regulation plays in such relationship,thus undertaking targeted intervention according to Gross Emotion Regulating Model and Albert's ABC theory on Emotion.The outcome is listed as follow:1.15% of the candidates are narcissitic while 22% of the whole has conducted cyberbullying behaviour.The level of the ability to regulate emotion among them remains above average,namely 4 points.2.Students differs dramatically in narcissistic personality,emotion regulation and cyberbullying in terms of different grades and marks.While such distinctive differences do not exist when it comes to monthly average income of their families.3.Narcissistic personality and cyberbullying are positive correlated while such relationship is exactly opposite between emotion regulation and cyberbully.4.Emotion regulation plays a regulating role in the relationship between narcissistic personality and cyberbullying.5.Under the intervention of emotion regulating group,distinctive change can be observed on targeted students' ability to regulate their emotion in general.As a result,their cyberbullying action decrease accordingly.
