The aging of the population is an irreversible historical trend and a huge challenge for the whole world.China's population base is huge,and the rate of population aging is accelerating in recent years.Therefore,how to solve the problem of aging has become an important social issue in China.Solving the problem of aging not only needs to pay attention to the material needs of the elderly people,but also to their spiritual needs.One key to solve the problem of aging society is to know how to strengthen their social participation through career learning,and thus find the value of the life of elderly people.Japan has entered the aging society for a long time and is one of the longestlived countries in the world.Therefore,their experience in the welfare policy and lifelong education for the elderly worth our study.This thesis focuses on the career learning of the elderly in China and Japan and explore the subject of education for the elderly through questionnaires and comparative analysis.In the first part of the thesis,we will introduce the background of the topic,that is,why career learning is an important part of solving the problem of aging.The second part will introduce the theoretical development of the career learning in China and Japan and some important research results.In the third part,we will introduce the development of various career learning institutions in China and Japan,as well as the development of the university for the senior citizens.In the fourth part,we will introduce the survey in two universities: University of Life in the Setagaya and Wuhan University for the aged.In the fifth part,we will introduce the characteristics of the education of the elderly and explore what is the best solution for the aging problem via career learning,as well as the possibility of future development of career learning in an aging society.
