Study On The Evaluation And Cultivation Of Environmental Literacy Of Students Majoring In Tourism In Secondary Vocational Schools

Environmental literacy reflects the cognition and understanding of environmental protection,and the ability of responsible environmental behavior for individuals.As the strong backing of China's future tourism development,environmental literacy of students majoring in tourism in secondary vocational schools is closely related to the development of tourism.Then,what is the level of their environmental literacy,and how to cultivate their environmental literacy to promote the development of environmental education and quality education,has become an urgent need for the current vocational education.Based on the concept of environmental literacy,this study takes the students majoring in tourism in four secondary vocational schools in Changsha as the research object.Through the literature review and expert interviews,the study constructs and develops the environmental literacy evaluation system and scale of secondary vocational tourism students to evaluate the level of environmental literacy and realize the scientific cultivation of the environmental literacy of this group.The results show that(1)The environmental literacy level of secondary vocational tourism students is at a moderate level.At present,the level of environmental literacy is still at the stage of “knowing more and doing less” and “knowing is easier than doing”.(2)The level of environmental literacy of these students is related to their individual characteristics and external factors(school education,social education and family education).Based on the conclusions of the survey and the goal of educating people of the tourism major in secondary vocational schools,the following measures are proposed to cultivate students' environmental literacy.Firstly,secondary vocational schools should pay attention to the cultivation of environmental literacy of tourism majors according to these following steps: Optimizing the curriculum structure of environmental education,improving teaching methods,Innovating the mode of classroom teaching,actively carrying out environmental protection practice activities,improving the environmental literacy level of full-time teachers.Secondly,the cultivation of students' environmental literacy should also rely on social environmental education.Expanding cooperation with enterprises and communities to establish a broad public environment support;Creating a good social environment atmosphere;Establishing the mechanism of tourism environment education.Finally,giving full play to the infiltrating effect of family environmental education.parents should set an environmental example,optimize the family environment and cultivate students' environmental protection habits.
