The period of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China's academic system has undergone four major revisions and dozens of minor revisions,leaving us a rich sample to research.So,research the formation and transformation process of our basic art education concept and its causes,as well as the experience and lessons in the implementation process that has certain reference significance to the reform of the art curriculum in primary and secondary schools.This paper studies the basic art education in the 1902-1927 period through three aspects:the educational background of the national education policy maker;the art teachers trained in fine arts schools and teachers' schools;and the real situation of basic art education in this period.Generally,this paper explores the process and causes of the formation and transformation of basic art education in China during this period from the perspective of collision between Chinese and Western cultures and discusses the implication and inspiration to the new curriculum reform in China.
