In recent years,the characteristics and development trend of future education have made it a consensus in the educational circle to cultivate students' core qualities.The international school which the author works for has set up a Chinese studies course in the middle school.For many years,the Chinese studies course has not been effective enough.The students think this course has no practical significance.The teachers are puzzled to get a proper instructional design.Therefore,the author designed a set of instructional design plan and implementation strategy based on backward design,tried to improve the teaching effect and cultivate students' core qualities.At present,the research in this field is limited,which makes the author feel that her research is more necessary and valuable.This study mainly uses the action research method,simultaneously used the literature analysis method,the questionnaire investigation method,the interview method,the observation method and so on.The author believes that for middle school students,the Chinese studies lesson should start with the discussion of the cultural extension,and finally return to the discussion of the cultural connotation,that is,its value.Backward design is an excellent tool that can help achieve this goal,and the author uses the three stages of backward design to combine with the teaching content of the Chinese studies course.A primary process for the application of backward design to the Chinese studies course in middle school was initially set.This process guided three rounds of action research.The research results prove that backward design is very instrumental in improving the teaching effect and training the core quality of middle school students in author's school.The author also summarized some implementation strategies for the Chinese studies course in her school under each stage of the backward design module.The primary process and implementation strategy of the backward design summarized by the author will be of great guiding significance to the design of the Chinese studies course in the middle school of her international school.
