Combining questionnaire survey and interview,the present study carries out a large-scale simulated testing survey among 120 respondents to comprehensively analyze the structure,question types,language points,grading standard etc.of PAT7.4test paper by using the Modern Communicating Language Testing Theory as the reference.Besides,with a statistical analysis of indicators such as difficulty degree,distinction degree,reliability,validity etc.,the study finds out the difficulties of the testing questions,conducts a further comprehensive evaluation of the quality of the PAT7.4 test and points out relevant problems.Moreover,by comparing the PAT7.4 test with relatively successful test systems like TOFEL and HSK,the study presents measures to improve the Thailand's PAT7.4 test.On the basis of Bachman's theory of communicative language testing,the comparison among PAT7.4,College Chinese Test,and HSK is made and it shows that PAT7.4 has some inefficiencies,including repeated language points,improper instructions,disproportion of test contents,and irrelevance of cultural tests to practice.Accordingly,the author makes some suggestions such as adjusting the structure and proportion of the different parts of the test,and lowering the difficulty.
