| The Chinese Education Commission and some other ministries launched a joint development project in 1992,which connected the industry,universities and research institutes together.From 2009,a new policy began to admit full-time Master of Engineering(ME)students.In the development of the full-time ME education,the practice education platform played a very important role.However,the full-time ME students are still facing some problems.For example,many of them cannot meet the requirements of the companies well and the ME students are somewhat too similar to the Master of Science(MS)students due to the lack of practice.The exploration of practice education platform is still in an early stage.There are some problems,including that the mechanism is not clear and the requirements of each side(students particularly)are not satisfied.For this purpose,empirical study was conducted.Along with literature research,this thesis reviewed the history of engineering education and the development of cooperation project of the industry,universities and research institutes both domestic and abroad.By conducting focus group discussions and in-depth interviews,the requirements of the ME students and professors were collected.Through questionnaires survey,the differences of the demands of 206 students were investigated.Through field investigation,two typical ME practice education platforms were analyzed.Finally,by these efforts,three major results were obtained.First,the study put forward some suggestions for the current practice education platforms.By conducting a deep investigation on the full-time ME students,a set of data were obtained.The data provided suggestions regarding training time,thesis,skills and abilities,enterprise cooperation and other aspects for the open education platform.Deep understanding of the full-time ME students would help educators distinguish them from MS students and use different approaches to teach them accordingly.It would also provide data and analysis basis for the future reform of ME education and the future construction of the open education platform.Second,the study put forward some improvement ways for the current practice education platforms.The first one is to boost the cooperation of enterprises,schools and the practice education platform,including impelling the joint admission of enterprises,schools and the practice education platform,combining ME master’s degree thesis with enterprise project,arranging ME students to devote into one project during the whole postgraduate period.Another one is to cut back on limitations,including reducing limitations on enterprise mentors,choosing cooperation enterprises and their projects more flexibly,establishing dynamical resource matching mechanism.The third suggestion is to establish an evaluation system,including both enterprise mentors and ME students.Third,the study put forward a new framework of “the government,enterprises,professors and students” practice education open platform.The study defined the needs and responsibilities of the government,enterprises,teachers and students,and combs their needs and responsibilities.At the same time,it constructed the relationship framework of the ME open education platform. |
