An Analysis On Existing Circumstances In Carrying Out Sports Competitions In The Colleges And Universities In Tianjin And The Suggested Response Strategies

College sports competition is an important part of physical education in China and an indispensable factor in quality education.Based on the needs of the reform of college sports competition system and mechanism in China,we should enrich the content of college students’ extracurricular sports activities,improve the physical health of college students,and integrate the running of college sports competitions with the participating in the competitions.By using the methods of literature data,mathematical statistics,questionnaire and logical analysis,this paper studies the organizational structure,competition mode,participation mode,competition grouping and competition scale of college sports competitions in Tianjin.Through the multi-level and multi-angle analysis of corresponding questionnaire surveys from college teachers and students,this paper conducts an in-depth study of the influencing factors that restrict the development of college sports competitions in Tianjin,and proposes solutions and suggestions to improve the existing circumstances,with the aim of providing a theoretical basis for the sustainable development of college sports competitions.It is concluded that:(1)College sports competition in Tianjin is dominated by project-based organizational structure.The organizational system model currently sets as follows: planning stage,financing stage and preparatory stage.In the implementation of the competitions,the participants are divided into three groups: undergraduate group,higher vocational group,and the high-level group.In 2018,only 16 events were opened,and the competition mode was simplified.(2)The teachers who lead the team are mainly young and middle-aged,holding a bachelor’s degree or above,and most of whom are lecturers.The propor tion of college students participating in school teams or sports associations is not ideal.(3)Teachers and students in colleges and universities in Tianjin are less satisfied with the time arrangement,venues,facilities and referees of college sports competitions.They highly agree on the importancy to carry out sports competitions in colleges and universities and strongly support it,but they are lack of information and understanding about the process.(4)The main factors restricting the development of sports competitions in colleges and universities in Tianjin include the shortage of funds,low-level attention from school authorities,the disintegrated system,the inconsistency with the actual needs and the inactive and deficient mechanisms.Most of the teachers who lead the team in the competitions aim at improving the sports skills of the students and their own teaching skills,while the students prefer to develop hobbies,enhance their health and fitness and make new friends.(5)To improve and upgrade the current process,we should focus on completing the overall competition system,establishing diversified sports competition mode,arranging competition items and schedules rationally and optimizing competition incentive mechanism.(6)To enhance the ability to participate in sports competitions in colleges and universities,it is necessary to draw more attention from authorities of colleges and universities on sports competitions,increase the promotion of college sports competitions and the investment of college sports infrastructure,improve the academical and skill professionalism of the teachers,actively carry out sports association activities in colleges and universities,and form sports competition school teams in colleges and universities.(7)We should fully utilize social resources to serve college sports competitions,make full use of the advantages of enterprise resources,the experience of competition companies,and the channels of cultural media organizations to serve college sports competitions.
