With the renewal of the times and the rise of modern toys,the children's folk toys in China are facing a serious survival crisis.As a product of traditional culture,folk toys not only reflect the life and cultural traditions of people living in this land,but also are a history of children,which embody the historical course of children's cultural changes in a certain region.The human emotions,creation wisdom and geographical and cultural value contained in folk toys should not be overshadowed.This study mainly adopts field investigation and literature methods to investigate the folk villages on site and collects 92 children's folk toys in the region of Jiangsu and Zhejiang,which are divided into four types from the perspective of folk culture:life-related folk toys that originate from daily life and reflect local lifestyle and production;seasonal toys for specific seasons and festivals;ceremonial toys for the major node rituals of life that express the nice blessings of the elders;belief-related toys that originate from sacrifices,religions and taboos and reflect the veneration of local people for ancestors and worship towards nature.Most of these toys are still popular among local children.In this paper,12 representative toys are selected to make an in-depth discussion on the educational value of the culture contained in them to children,it is believed that the selection and playing methods of folk toys are in line with the nature of children and children's physical functions and psychology have achieved development in the process of playing them.The spirit of creation contained in different folk toys also makes children edified by traditional cultures in a subtle way.Based on the results of the discussion,this study has conducted questioning and reflection on the educational value of folk toys to contemporary children from four dimensions:First,the folk toys are always centered on the children's perspective,whichconforms to the cultural characteristics of children in different periods.When children are playing,it can make them return to their true-self state,providing a new perspective for adults to understand the real children.Second,folk toys help children to maintain an equal dialogue relationship with the game materials as both a gamer and a creator in the game.The games,players and toys co-exist in the form of game community,which maintains the integrity of the game to the greatest extent and nourishes the development of the game.Third,the unique regional cultural symbols of folk toys enable children to identify with social rules and understand the national spirit in observation and play,and the natural ecological characteristics formed by local materials also shape children's perception of the natural environment in their hometown.Fourth,folk toys connect traditional culture with children's real life,which accords with the value demands of traditional culture education in kindergartens.Their multiple material choices and play-making methods can improve the theme setting of preschool courses,enrich the activities of preschool courses and thus play the role of nourishing courses and creating educational resources.Fifth,the creation thought of folk toys centers on humanization,living and life,and it can effectively carry out humanistic education,living education and life education for children to take this thought as a medium,which is conducive to the return of children's education to the life world.At present,there is no research that has made systematic collection of children's folk toys in the region of Jiangsu and Zhejiang,and there is also rare analysis conducted on the value of children's folk toys from the perspective of culture and education.This study expects to arouse the attention of early childhood educators to national excellent traditional resources,which has far-reaching practical significance for enriching the curriculum resources of kindergartens and giving full play to the educational function of traditional culture for the development of young children.
