Interpersonal communication is the basic form of human activities. As society changes,it presents different characteristics. So,the interpersonal communication of contemporary China is still a new and meaningful research problem. The interpersonal comnunication of young students not only plays a role of time shadow, but also reflects the difference from other age groups. The study of young students'interpersonal communication will help students to adapt to society better, and also can improve the theory about young students. The interpersonal communication of young students can be divided into two parts. One part of this occurred in home, and the other part occurred outside home.Interpersonal communication occurred in home is mainly between parents and children.Interpersonal communication occurred outside home is mainly among peers. After the students entered school, they became less dependent on their parents.Peer group became their main object of interpersonal communication. The questions of this article were these:how about the interpersonal communication status of young students;from high school to college, what changes had taken place in young students'interpersonal communication;how family affected the interpersonal communication of students of various ages. So,this article did a review about the research of students'interpersonal communication at first, then raised my hypotheses. For this study, the data came from the tracking survey of 745 students of Nanjing. We chose two surveys doing in their high school time and college time. Then we analysed their interpersonal communication status outside home and the influence of family. The results showed that, from high school to college, young students' whole social circle outside family expanded. But the core layer of interpersonal communication remained stable. In content, the interpersonal communication of high school students and college students were both emotional, but college students were more rational and mature than high school students. The degree of satisfaction with peer relationship in college was lower than which in high school.Family had significant influence on interpersonal communication of both high school students and college students.Parent-child relationship had a more direct impact on the subjective and objective aspects of students' interpersonal communication. The more students shared with parents, and parents respected their children, and parent-child relationship closer to friends, the more social circle expended, also, the more satisfied students were with their classmates. At the same time, father had greater influence on students' interpersonal communication than mother.Besides,one-child or not, residential model and parents' marital status had different effects on students' interpersonal communication. And this effect may be increase through parent-child relation. The author suggested that, the reason for social circle of young students expanded but their core social layer remained stable was that our emotional resources were limited, and we had the need to seek identity.Because of cultural difference between college students and the competition among classmates, the satisfaction of students'interpersonal communication decreased.Because father and mother had different roles and different educational mode, father had greater impact on children's interpersonal communication than mother.
