In the new era of reforming and opening up,with the development gap between regions widening gradually, urbanization in different places accelerates the flow of resources and population in different regions. In order to be in line with the city, the endowment of the traditional rural society in rural areas has been impacted and the monetization has been accelerated.Women are moving to cities and developed areas, which makes it more and more common for young men in rural areas to find it difficult and expensive to get married. This paper tries to explain the rural marriage consumption from the rural male youth's academic background, which represents the accumulation of human capital and reflects the viability of modern society. The popularity of high-prize gifts in rural areas is the value compensation for the low educational background and low human capital accumulation of young men. However, the uncertainties of opportunity costs and results brought about by continuing education have prompted many rural parents and adolescents to avoid risks and consciously embark on the path of low education to go out to work in order to cope with the high consumption of marriage. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to verify whether the male youth who have received higher education in rural areas have significantly increased their marital consumption in order to understand the prevailing high-prize gifts in rural areas and the behavior choice model with low educational background. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this article uses the Peking University family survey(CFPS)empirical test of the above theoretical hypothesis.By constructing a binary dummy variable with or without higher education as the educational threshold, empirical regression analysis shows that higher education significantly increases the total expenditure of rural male married youth compared with their peers without higher education, which confirms the theoretical hypothesis of this paper.By relaxing the academic scope of explanatory variables,it is found that the regression coefficient of marital consumption to the fictitious variable of academic qualifications decreases significantly after the decrease of academic qualifications, which indicates that the effect of the decrease of academic qualifications on marital consumption begins to decrease. On the other hand,it proves the robustness of the conclusion that higher education enhances the marital consumption. In order to further explore the relationship between educational background factors and marital consumption, this paper also constructs educational level variables. After regression,we found that the higher the education level, the higher the expenditure on marriage consumption. This result enlarges the explanatory boundaries of this conclusion. This paper confirms that the marriage expenditure of male and young people with higher education in rural areas is higher than that of their peers without higher education. This kind of expenditure inc rement based on the urban-rural dual system and the opportunity cost of continuing education for rural adolescents has an important impact on the behavior choice of parents and adolescents in rural areas. The path of low education to go out to work also seriously affects its position in the future rural marriage market, especially the vicious circle of consumption expenditure and transfer expenditure substituting each other, which further aggravates the phenomenon of high-prize gifts and difficult marriage in rural areas.Based on the theoretical and empirical analysis results, this paper gives the following policy recommendations: the prevalence of high-color gifts in rural areas is essentially the result of a series of social and economic factors.Especially because of the worry and compensation of low human capital caused by the low educational background of newly-married young men.Only by improving the accumulation of human capital of rural youth, especially in backward areas, can they get rid of their inferior position in the marriage market and the premium effect of high-priced gifts.the reason for the vicious circle of low education and high prize in rural areas is that farmers are worried about the huge derivative expenditure and the uncertainty of educational investment, such as the uncertainty of the results of entering higher education and the uncertainty of employment after receiving higher education. Therefore, the government and society should focus on reducing the uncertainty of education investment, improving the employment service system for graduates of multi-level institutions of higher learning, building a better employment service platform for the government, schools, society and enterprises, effectively improving the employment level and income status of graduates of higher learning,so that farmers can see the benefits of studying and going to school,in order to truly guide society ethos.
